Brotherly Love 3
Aria finally goes starts her new life by going to a new school. What will happen?
"Here we are guys," my so-called-father said when we arrived at our destination. "Now, Aria, I know this will be strange for you, but try to keep on the positive side. You'll make new friends and enjoy yourself."
Save it old man, I thought to myself. "Whatever dad."
"Now, Jace," he added," I want you to help your sister around. Help her make new friends."
"Whatever." Jace jumped out of the car and headed towards the school. I followed reluctantly, ready to get away from Dave Parker.
Oh. My. Gosh. You have Got to be kidding me. I was standing in front of Springtown High school. It was the size of a university. I couldn't believe I was attending this school. There was a tennis court, basketball court, a soccer field and a football field. The grass was so clean-cut and...green. besides the stupid uniforms, this place wasn't so bad.
I traced my brother's steps as he entered the fine school. I never knew that my brother was so popular until we were surrounded by girls in short skirts and lots of make up. "Jace Parker!" they cried. "Oh, Jace! I missed you!" there was about nine or ten of them.
They all turned to me. "Who is she?" They said in unison. They greeted me with envious eyes. "Jace, she's not your new girlfriend is she? What does she have that I don't have? She's not that pretty, you know."
Not that pretty? Girlfriend? Hello! I'm freaking standing right here!
"Ladies, ladies." Jace smoothed. "Don't worry. This girl has nothing on you. She's just my baby sister. That's all."
I had enough. I am Not his "baby" sister. We are only a year apart! I just walked away before I went off on those losers. But that was a bad idea sense I tripped and fell over a book. (I'm not that coordinated). But luckily there was someone there to catch me. It was a guy. He stood me off and flashed me a smile that was so contagious that I couldn't help but smile myself.
"Th-Thank you," I stuttered.
"No problem," He said. He was tall and very pale. The eyes that hid behind very trendy glasses were the lightest brown and his hair was the same color. He seemed familiar. He was very handsome. At that moment, I forgot that I had a boyfriend.
He noticed me staring and flashed me another smile. "Your Jace's little sister right?" he asked.
Crap. This again. "Um.."
"I'm sorry," he apologized. "You must hate it when people say that. " Aria, right?"
"Yes. That me."
He held out his hand. "Nice to meet you."
The bell rang and I was alarmed. I was not about to be late to class on my first day of class. "I gotta go. Thanks again!" and like that, I was off.
So much for "big bro" showing me around the school. I had to use my schedule to find my locker. It was smooshed between other lockers on the left and a library on the right. My locker number was 226. Both of my favorite numbers. The hallway smelled like sweat and dead rats. I needed to remind myself to bring an air freshener.
A tall, figured girl with tanned skin and green eyes opened the locker next to me. She had clean cut, long blonde hair. Her perfume gave a nice flowery smell that somewhat made the hallway smell better. She noticed me and gave me a look over. Her facial expression told me that she found nothing wrong.
"Kayla Martin," she greeted with her hand out for greeting.
"Aria," I responded. "Nice to meet you." I shook her manicured hands, and instantly felt a connection. She told me that her first period class was English Literature, which was mine too. She showed me to our class. The teacher, Miss Missy, was waiting for her students to take their seats. Kayla and I chose seats close to the back and next to huge luminous windows. The class was filled with jocks and prissy girls. My theory was that all the nerds and geeks were in AP Lit.
Right before the tardy bell rang, Jace and a posse of "cool" guys entered the class with swag. The guy right behind my brother was the same person who helped me when I tripped. Now I had remembered him. He showed up my father's house and dropped a game off to Jace. What was his name again?
The guys took a place right in front of Kayla and me. A few of them sneaked a little peek at me, wanting to see Jace's little sister. Jerks. Their school uniforms were wrinkled and their shirttail were untucked. They all looked conniving, except for the guy with the glasses who I have already met. He looked calm and sinister.
"Oh, my Gosh." I heard Kayla whisper.
"What?" I asked.
"Do you know who they are?" I shook my head at the question. "The really hot one is Jace Parker. He's the coolest guy in the school. His right hand man is Chase Coldwell. They are the Ace. Oh, I am glad to be an Ace girl so I can have a chance at that!"
"Oh...okay...."
Miss Missy took role and noticed a new name. her face changed from surprise to confusion. She looked across the room and spotted me. Her eyes swept back and forth to me and Jace. I bit my lip. I hoped that she didn't hate him or something because that would most likely cause her to hate me.
"Aria Parker?" she said. I nodded. I could feel Kayla's eyes stare at me with shock. "I'm sorry, I was not informed that I would have a new student. Are you related to Jace?"
I nodded.
All eyes were on me. Except for Jace and his posse of course. "Why didn't you tell me you were related to Jace Parker?" Kayla demanded to know.
"You didn't ask." I said innocently. "Besides, it's not like I want to be."
"So what are you to him?" a girl asked.
"I'm his half sister." Unfortunately.
After the first period class ended, I was getting curious stares from kids around the school. Everywhere I went I was surrounded with confused eyes and unnerving whispers. I was on edge. What was so great about the Ace? Do they bully people? Are they just a bunch of pretty boys who think they can do whatever they want? I bet they are all just jerks; except for the guy who helped my earlier. Chase. He was nice. He smelled nice too, like flowers--male flowers.
I entered my second period class with hopes of less stares and maybe another friend (since Kayla is not in this class). But my luck was out already considering that this class is Algebra II. Great. Math and I don't mix. Then again, math doesn't mix with a lot of people. Spotting a seat in the back, I briskly headed over there before the room was filled. Since we apparently have a ten minute break to get our stuff and move on to the next class, of course I was one of the first ones there. Beside me was a girl who seemed to be taking nap.
"Excuse me." I lightly touched her on the shoulder.
"What?" the girl said, irritated. "Just five more minutes, mom."
"It's fine, Lidia. Go back to sleep."
Whoa?! When did he show up? There was a guy standing on the other side of me. He was short (though an inch taller than me). His hair was spiky-he had a long bang going to one side of his face that was held by bobby pens that crissed-crossed; and he had piercings in his nose and ears and lower lip. I don't usually like that punk look but this guy hear pulled it off; and his friend, this Lidia person, totally rocked the gothic look. Her hair was streaked with blue in a short ponytail held with a skull pen and her sleeping eyes were fierce. But when they were open they looked so blue and gray that they took a light shade of purple.
"Hey," Punk dude gave me an irritated look. "You're in my seat."
"I'm sorry, I didn't know." I stand up to leave the seat when he stopped me.
"Don't worry 'bout it newbie. You can sit there. Hey are you that new girl everyone is blabbing about? The one related to the king of Ace?"
'King of Ace'? Was that Jace? Jeez, I can't get away from him. "Yeah. He's my half-brother."
"Whoa man, you look nothing like an Ace girl. You're too clean." Lidia was awake now. I seemed to gotten her partial attention.
"Good, 'cause I'm not an Ace girl. I don't even want to be here. I don't even want to be related to an 'Ace'. I'm already sick of people sticking me with him!"
"Sheesh! Chill lady," Coming from the punk, "I'm no Ace fan either. Welcome to the anti-Ace club! What's your name dudette? I'm Lonman Jakes. But peeps just call me Lon. And this here is Lidia Penn. Don't worry, she doesn't bite much. Just when you wake her up from a nap....or tell her she's pretty."
Lidia scowled. "Shut up, Lon."
I laughed. I like Lon, he's pretty funny. And Lidia was pretty-very pretty. But I won't tell her that. "I'm Arianne Parker. But people call me Aria."
"Awesome! I love that name. It reminds me of a bird flying through the air!" Lon cooed.
"That's an avian, you moron." Lithia's great logic.
Soon after, class started. I was happy to make three friends in only two class periods. But one of my friends, Kayla, seemed to have a huge crush on Jace and the other two seemed to have placed my half-brother in their 'must destroy' list. Despite that, finally I had hope of moving on from the hurt of losing my mom and friends but hanging around a loudmouth punk, a girly girl, and a pretty Goth.
Save it old man, I thought to myself. "Whatever dad."
"Now, Jace," he added," I want you to help your sister around. Help her make new friends."
"Whatever." Jace jumped out of the car and headed towards the school. I followed reluctantly, ready to get away from Dave Parker.
