Sarah's assailants were reduced to ashes by his fire.
Wisps of smoke lingered at his fingertips as he strode towards his protege. His strong body glistened in the sunlight.
She could barely breathe. His presence overwhelmed her. Her hero, her mentor, took her hand.
Her cheeks burned the way they always did whenever she thought of him. Her thoughts were far from pure.
Kind eyes gazed at her from that aristocratic face, "You'll be fine. Remember what I taught you."
She couldn't recall the content of his lessons. Though she was training to be a warrior, she was too distracted by his blatant sexuality.
Family, remember, she chided herself. She was a warrior in his charge and warriors treated one another like brothers. His care for her was probably nothing more than the concern of a big brother.
Not necessarily. She thought she heard his deep voice murmur in her mind.
Startled, she looked up. His lush lips curved in a slight smile. Gently, he kissed her forehead.
Her heart thumped like it would burst. She tilted her head upwards hoping for more.
"I wish I could." His voice carried a tinge of regret.
As mysteriously as he appeared, Jake vanished.
