Brooke Shields Says She Wants a Younger Face

It seems that there are many, many 44-year-old women out there who want to look younger...say, ten years younger or so. As it turns out, Brooke Shields is one of them. Like so many women slowly creeping towards the dreaded 50th birthday, Shields is wishing she had the same face she had ten years ago and notes that her age is making it difficult to land roles in Hollywood. Said Shields, "For years, I’ve been the youngest person on the set, and it occurred to me recently that I wasn’t 26!"

We can, in fact, confirm that Shields isn’t 26-years-old, though she’s looking pretty good for 44. Said Shields of her Hollywood woes, "I’d read a script and say, ‘Oh, that’s a great character, that’s something I’d love to do.’ And they’d say, ‘Um, no, we’re thinking of you for the mother.’ And then I’d say, ‘Oh, of course! Of course! I knew that.’" For Shields, who became the youngest fashion model to ever appear on Vogue (at the age of 14) and then went on to become a Calvin Klein model, it has to be particularly tough. Her comments make it abundantly clear that it is.

Said Shields recently, "I always find it funny that so much skin cream advertising features, like, Jessica Alba. She’s gorgeous, and 12! Okay? They’re all that age! I don’t care how much La Mer I put on my skin, I’m not going to have Jessica Alba’s face." True, Brooke, true indeed. But, turnabout is fair play, as they say. A mere 30 years ago, a (literally) 14-year-old Shields was making today’s 74-year-olds jealous in much the same way. No telling how Brooke will feel about being 74, but we’re guessing she’s not going to like it.
