Britney Spears Upset by AMA’s Skit

Spears was reportedly "blindsided" by the skit which featured a Federline look-a-like was put in a box and dumped into the ocean and dubbed "the first no-hot wonder" by host Jimmy Kimmel. The skit took place moments before Spears appeared on stage to announce the winner of the Best Soul/R&B Female Artist. Spears was introduced as "The Bachelorette" and appeared on stage looking svelte in a body hugging silver dress.

The gum snapping Spears didn’t appear to be upset by the skit and smiled and said, "I’m so happy to be here." A source close to Spears said, "Britney was blindsided and upset. Some people from her label (Jive Records) were with her, and they were pissed. They asked that it not be shown on the (West Coast) feed." It was. A rep for Spears said that Spears "had no idea" the skit would be shown, let alone right before her appearance. She was reportedly "inconsolable." There has been no comment from Jive Records or from Federline’s camp about the skit. Kimmel claims the idea was his and he decided to air the skit because he "knew they wouldn't mind because I know they both have great senses of humor."

Spears filed for divorce from K-Fed on November 7 and is seeking sole custody of the couple’s sons one-year old Sean Preston and 2-month old Jayden James. Federline filed for custody of the kids and spousal support the day after Spears filed. The two were married in September (or October) 2004. There is a debate about when the two actually tied the knot. They announced that the couple tied the knot on September 18, 2004 but she listed her wedding date of October 6, 2004 in her divorce petition.
