It appears that the Britney Spears experiment is being deemed a failure by Simon Cowell and producers for The X Factor. Britney never really embarrassed herself while serving as a judge on the over-hyped talent competition, but she also failed to deliver the spark that the show badly needed. Spears is in a difficult position because of her age and career trajectory. At her age, Britney is no longer the "eye candy" that she was earlier in her career. And she has never really possessed the depth of personality required to be a compelling on-air presence.
Surely, Cowell and X Factor executives hoped that the weight of Britney's name alone would be enough to draw and keep viewers. And, although they'll never admit it, they certainly wouldn't have been too upset if Brit had "derailed" just a little during filming. Some salacious rumors about her onset behavior could have done wonders for the ratings. As it stands, Us Weekly is reporting that Britney's not going to be returning to The X Factor next season. L.A. Reid already announced his departure and it's a safe bet that Khloe Kardashian will be following him out the door very soon.
In other Britney news, a lawsuit was reportedly filed against the pop princess by Kevin Federline's brother, Chris Federline, claiming that Chris is the "actual" father of one of Britney's sons. However, a Federline relative has already come forward to claim that the lawsuit was a hoax and a Florida judge has thrown out the case. Investigators believe that the lawsuit may have been filed by convicted felon, Jonathan Lee Riches. Riches regularly files fraudulent lawsuits against celebrities and claims to be related to persons of public interest.
