Britney Spears Requests Less Drug Testing

A lawyer for pop tart Britney Spears has filed a motion requesting that her twice weekly drug testing be terminated or modified.

The motion was reportedly filed Friday, October 26 during a hearing in her ongoing custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline. According to papers released Tuesday Spears’ lawyer had filed the motion before, but Federline’s attorney shot the request down. Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon called Spears a "habitual" drug user on September 17. At that time she was ordered to undergo random twice-weekly drug testing.

Spears and Federline have been involved in a custody battle over their two young sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, since the couple called it quits last November. Spears and Federline shared 50-50 custody until October 1 when Federline was granted full physical custody of the boys after Spears allegedly missed a drug test and she was found to not have a valid California driver’s license. Spears was granted visitation rights on October 3 with a court appointed monitor. On October 11 she was granted one monitored overnight visit a week. On October 17 Spears’ visitation rights were revoked when she could not be reached on a cell phone intended only for court related purposes. Three days later her monitored visitation rights were reinstated.

In addition to the twice weekly drug testing, Spears was ordered to undergo individual weekly counseling. Both she and Federline were ordered to participate in joint co-parenting counseling and had to enroll in a Parenting Without Conflict program. Both Spears and Federline attended their first session of the program at the Beverly Hills Hotel on October 24. Spears and Federline are reportedly due to appear in court again on November 26 where Judge Gordon will review the report submitted by the court appointed monitor.
