Spears was taken to UCLA Medical Center early Thursday morning and is reportedly being held on a 5150 hold, which is code for when someone is a potential danger to themselves or others. Spears will be observed over the next few days to determine whether or not she will need to be admitted into a hospital. It was reported earlier that Spears had attempted suicide, but sources close to the star have slammed the rumors. She reportedly has not slept since Saturday and was able to rest following her admittance into the hospital.

It has been reported that Spears latest trip to the hospital was the doing of her "manager" Sam Lufti. A source said, "This was all Sam’s doing. Sam pulled this on Britney last night, and Britney called Lynne because she was scared. Lynne was blindsided. She did not engineer getting her put into the hospital." Lufti has reportedly been working with Spears’ psychiatrist to try and get Spears to understand that she would not regain visitation with her children if she did not get the psychiatric help that she needs. Spears’ mother, Lynne, reportedly did not think that her daughter needed to be hospitalized until she actually witnessed Spears bizarre behavior. Lynne reportedly became hysterical after Britney began using different accents and claiming not to remember what she had said when using the different accents. She also accused her mother of wanting to sleep with her photographer beau, Adnan Ghalib.

This is Spears second trip to the hospital. Earlier this month she was briefly hospitalized following a four-hour standoff with police when she refused to return her children Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, to their father’s custody. Spears has been in a downward spiral since splitting from her ex Kevin Federline. Her bizarre behavior has progressively gotten worse and a source said that she has suffered from bi-polar disorder for years. Whether or not Lufti is the best guy he is reportedly looking out for Spears’ safety. A source said of Lynne, "Lynne is glad Britney is being treated. This has always been her wish and Jamie’s wish. She just wishes that Sam wasn’t the one in control and wants him to step aside. This is a family matter."
