Britney Spears’ Hit & Run Charge Dismissed
A misdemeanor hit-and-run charge was reportedly dismissed against singer Britney Spears on Thursday.

Spears, 25, was involved in a minor car accident when she hit a parked car as she was pulling into a parking lot in Studio City, California. Video and pictures were snapped of Spears hitting the car, getting out and checking the damage, and then walking away. She was hit with two misdemeanor charges stemming from the incident on August 6 – hit-and-run and driving without a valid California license. The hit-and-run charge was dismissed Thursday after L.A. Superior Court Commissioner Susan Speer was notified that Spears had paid a $1,000 cash settlement to the owner of the car she hit to cover any damage incurred in the incident.
Speer refused to drop the second charge of driving without a valid California license, but Spears’ attorney Mike Flanagan entered a not guilty plea on her behalf. Spears did obtain a valid driver’s license on October 2, but it has been reported that prosecutors want to place her on probation for a year. If she violates the probation by getting a speeding ticket or any other citation she could face time behind bars.
Spears has had some major troubles over the past year. She has been battling ex-hubby Kevin Federline for custody of her children 2-year old Sean Preston and 1-year old Jayden James. She was order to attend parenting classes and lost physical custody of the boys. She was awarded visitation rights, but the visitations must take place with a court-appointed monitor. Maybe this hit-and-run charge is the beginning of her turning her life around.
