Spears, 26, has agreed to give Federline sole custody of the boys and she will retain visitation rights. She currently has monitored visitation visits with the boys twice a week. Just recently she was granted 1 overnight visit with the boys. Spears lost all visitation rights in January after she was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after she refused to return the boys to Federline’s custody. She has slowly been proving herself to the judge and earning more and more visits with her sons. Spears and Federline met in court Friday to finalize the settlement.
Spears will now reportedly pay Federline $20,000 a month in child support, which is $5,000 more that he has been receiving. She also has to pay $250,000 to Federline’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, for his work on the case. Kaplan said Friday at a press conference, "This has been a long ordeal [for Kevin] and for it to be over makes him very happy." A source said of Spears, "All Britney was seeking was a formalization of her increased visitation that she’s obtained over recent weeks, and the additional overnight. She won both of those requests." The source also said that Spears could be gaining an additional overnight with her boys in the next few months.
Spears and Federline, 30, were married in September 2004. A year later she gave birth to the couple’s first son, Sean. The next September she gave birth to son Jayden. Two months later, Spears filed for divorce from Federline, and the two have been battling for custody ever since. Federline also has two other children with his ex, actress Shar Jackson. Daughter Kori will be 6 this month and son Kaleb just turned 4.
