Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake to Perform Together with Madonna

Ryan Seacrest broke the news of the surprising onstage reunion Wednesday afternoon on the radio show of DJ BoyToy Jesse in L.A. Madonna is believed to be the driving force behind the move, which is sure to generate tremendous buzz and a flurry of activity for ticket-seekers to Thursday night's show at Dodger Stadium.

In recent years, Britney and Justin have each collaborated with Madonna individually on various projects, although the former couple has had very little reported contact during that time. All indications are that things are amicable between the two, with each enjoying very successful careers since their much-publicized romance and subsequent break-up.

Britney is riding high with her number one hit, Womanizer, while greatly improving her image following her public meltdown last year. She has agreed to let her father manage her finances and her career and he has done a nice job of keeping Britney away from any negative publicity. Her new album, Circus, is scheduled for release in the coming weeks and it is expected to do very well.

Justin Timberlake, meanwhile, has done nothing but grow his image and his reach in recent years. From successful appearances on Saturday Night Live to his participation in made-for-television golf events and movie roles, JT is a bonafide superstar who seems to have everything under control. After breaking with long-time love Cameron Diaz, Timberlake moved seamlessly into another stable relationship with Hollywood hottie Jessica Biel. The two are still going strong.

With Madonna's recent marital issues, perhaps the idea of bringing Justin and Britney together onstage will be a welcome distraction. It will certainly have the music world talking and watching to see how everything turns out.
