Britney Spears Agrees to Let Dad Continue to Manage Her Affairs

The conservatorship that allows Jamie Spears to control all of Britney's personal and professional finances and major decisions has been extended indefinitely by a California judge.
Citing the fact that Britney is "susceptible to undue influence", a Los Angeles judge ordered that the conservatorship arrangement through which her father manages her life is continued indefinitely. Britney consented to the extension of the arrangement and apparently has no plans to request any amendments to its structure. Jamie Spears legally took control of his daughter’s affairs in February of this year, following months of increasingly erratic behavior and at least one stint in a mental health facility.

The current arrangement seems to be working as Britney has stayed out of trouble since it started. She's also managed to top the charts once again recently with Womanizer. And all this while Jamie Spears works carefully to untangle the remaining issues in Britney's life, most notably, the custody arrangement with her sons and ex-husband Kevin Federline, and a pending lawsuit in Florida in which Brit is being sued for breach of contract and other alleged issues.

Britney nearly lost the Florida case during her "erratic" period as a result of not responding to court orders and not appearing to defend herself. Jamie Spears and his team of attorneys took control of Britney's affairs just in time to file the necessary motions to stop a default judgment against Britney in the case. With Jamie's legal team now calling the shots, Brit won't have to testify in the Florida lawsuit until next year.

With Britney's professional and financial worlds closely guarded by her Dad, she seems to be headed in a better direction -- maybe not entirely the right one, but definitely better. Although she is 26 years old, Britney was a true child star and has never really had an opportunity to evolve into an adult. Perhaps this conservatorship will give her that chance.
