Bride and Groom Speeches - Two Becomes One, or Does it?

Tradition has it that grooms speeches are made by the groom on behalf of both the bride and himself. However it is not uncommon for the bride to decide to make her own speech. Whichever route is chosen it is wise to get help with the writing of the speech.
Tradition has it that the father of the bride makes the first wedding speech. The groom then follows, making a speech on behalf of the bride and himself. The groom then hands over to the best man. Nowadays it is not uncommon for the bride to make her own speech, and if this is the case then her speech slots in between that of the groom and the best man.

The groom’s speech is probably the most important of the day, and also the longest, as this speech involves thanking all of the people involved in the organizing, planning, and execution of the wedding ceremony and reception. When giving thanks you must not miss anyone out, or give undue prominence to individuals where it is not due, or you risk offending someone.

Although there are a lot of people to thank you should try not to make it sound as if you are simply reading out a shopping list. You need to be sincere and humorous at the same time, and to achieve this delicate balancing act is no mean feat.

Actually giving the speech is a daunting task in itself. Most people are not experienced or comfortable with speaking in front of a large audience. And this is no ordinary audience comprising of people that you will probably not encounter again, some of these people you will see on a daily or weekly basis, so you need to get it right. I hope you now begin to see the scope of the challenge that lies ahead.

Unfortunately what may be the biggest speech of your life comes at the end of probably the busiest period of your life. You have a wedding to organize, you are trying to plan the ceremony, the reception, the honeymoon, the transport, the flowers, buy the rings, and the list really does go on.

On your list of things to do will be to write your grooms speech, unfortunately there are always more pressing things that require your attention, and so this gets left, and left, and left. At some point you realize that you cannot keep on putting it off, and you need to take action. Unfortunately this often happens rather late in the day, and you haven’t left an awful lot of time to work on your speech.

This realization often leads to an initial panic, the answer to which is a frantic trawl through the search engines to try to find some ideas. However you can only find a few examples of groom’s speeches that you can ‘copy’. You may come across a few half-decent passages, but when you try to cobble them together into a single speech you find that you end up with a mish-mash of disjointed writing styles, and a dated and cliché-ridden speech.

Your guests will most likely have heard similar mediocre speeches in the past, so don’t be surprised if when you look up from your speech you see a bored look on their faces as they talk amongst themselves. This forces you to rush the rest of your speech and miss out chunks in order to finish sooner and put yourself out of the misery.

You really don’t want this to happen to you. After all of the time, money, and heartache you have invested in your special day you don’t want to incur the wrath of your new bride and the rest of the wedding guests by cutting corners on the most important speech of your life.

Forget the inferior speeches available on the internet, what you need is high quality, professionally written grooms speeches and toasts that you can personalize to suit your needs. You will then end up with a unique speech that will be received with enthusiasm by your bride, your new in-laws, and indeed all of your wedding guests.
