How to Brew Beer at Home?

Buying the Stuff
Beginners can buy a home beer brewing kit of their own choice, make sure it includes all the necessary ingredients. The make beer at home kit consists of a big can of hopped malt concentrate and a packet of yeast. You will also need to buy additional fermentables, to make alcohol. Some types of common fermentables include demerera sugar, liquid malt extract, rice syrup, dry malt extract, etc.

Sanitizing the Equipment
First of all you will need to thoroughly clean all the equipment, required for brewing beer. Cleaning the stuff doesn't mean only using soap and water, but sanitizing the equipment too. Sanitize all the equipment like brew pot, primary fermenter, saucepan, mixing spoon, rubber spatula, bowls, airlock and stopper. First clean the equipment using liquid dish washing soap, and then sanitize it using a bleach and water mixture.

Boiling the Beer
Now, soak your malt extract cans in hot water for 15 minutes, to soften it. Boil water, and allow it to reach to 160 F, so that it is steaming but not boiling. Then add your beer kit and additional fermentables according to the instructions on the kit. Then stir the mix rigorously, so that everything gets dissolved properly. Then put a lid and let the mix sit for 10 minutes on low flame.

Cooling and Fermenting the Beer
For cooling and fermenting beer, follow these homebrewing tips. Add the contents of your pot to gallons of cold water, which was already in your primary fermenter. Mix everything well, so that the oxygen gets added to the wort, prior to the yeast. Then, ferment as close to the recommended temperature range as possible. You can check on the fermentation process, as little air bubbles rise through the water in the airlock. After 5 days, check if the beer is still fermenting. Storing it in Bottles
Now use clean and sanitized bottles, and pour the beer in the bottles and cap them tight. Place the bottles in refrigerator, and allow them to chill. If you don't have enough space in the refrigerator, then store the bottles containing beer in some cool and dark place, as the space becomes available, stack the bottles in refrigerator.
