Breaking Free Chapter 4

To cover the bruises I put on a red sweater and a pair of skinny jeans with some boots. I applied a ton of makeup to cover the redness. Jay was waiting in his truck to drive me to school so I hurried out the door so he wouldn't get mad.

"Hey Jay"
"Hurry up and get In. We are going to be late." he snapped. He was probably still mad about last night but hed get over it.
"Sorry, love I couldn't decide what to wear"
"Baby you look hot in everything" he said which surprised me because he should have been upset.
"Aww thanks". I kissed him lightly on the cheek and smiled.

Nothing exciting happened all morning at school so the lunch table was pretty quiet till kyla tapped my arm and I jerked away "ouch!"
Kyla lifted my sleeve and her mouth dropped with how many bruises covered my arm.
"What happened?"
I looked over to Jay who squeezed my leg under the table. "oh you know me. I'm always falling and running into things" it was true. I am clumsy. "so howd you do it this time?" Rob asked with a grin on his face.
"Its embarrassing" I said stalling as my mind spun ideas of lies I could tell.
"Oh come on Lilly. Tell us" said lexi a tall blond girl with green eyes. She was one of the newest girls to our group.
"Fine. I was at jays house" his grip on my leg grew tighter "and I was on the stairs". His grip tightened again
"And I fell down the steps. He tried to catch me but his hands just raked my back." I paused and looked at Jay "Thank you babe" his grip loosened and I pecked him on the cheek. Disaster avoided I thought.

In 5th hour I sat by Jay and I could tell something was wrong. His body was tense and he didn't pass me any notes. I figured it was still because I ran out on him last night. When we went to the library for the last 20 minutes of class I pulled him into an empty isle out of the way of prying eyes. "what's up?" I asked.
"Lilly you can't tell anyone how you got hurt. EVER! I promise I won't hurt you again" I looked into his dark eyes.
"I won't tell if you quit forcing yourself on me" I said calmly.
He acted like he didn't hear me and kept talking "Ill ignore you leaving my house so rudely just this once. I care about you Lil. I want the best for you and I want to make sure you make the right choices". He grabbed my shoulders a little to tightly.

"Ouch Jay. That really hurts. Stop. Let go" I whined.
"If you stopped giving me reasons to get mad maybe we would get along better"
"Let her go" a voice interrupted. I turned and saw Jake staring at me. "dude get your butt out of our business. This is a private conversation." Jay said in a harsh tone. Jake walked over to where we were standing.
"Step off. Didn't anyone teach you how to treat a lady" Jake said in a tone I hadn't heard till now. My eyes filled with tears and spilled down my cheeks.
"Jay... Let me go.... Now!". I managed to sob.
"We WILL discuss this later" Jay let me go, spun around and disappeared around the corner.

"You okay Lilly?"
"Jake go away. Nobody asked you for help." I said harshly as I wiped away my tears. "why would you even care..."
"Lil I didn't mean to.... I mean I didn't want to.... I'm sorry". I turned to him and buried my face in his chest. "I hate him" I choked out "I hate him so much".
