Break Up At The Cemetery (The Final Chapter)
Guys, I’m sooooo sorry I haven't published the rest of my break-up at the cemetery. I’m hoping to make up for it by publishing the whole story and just finishing it off.. (It had only 2 more chapter anyways) so once again, so sorry. Hope you enjoyed it. Do leave a comment.
"Some place very special. A place that is reserved only for you and me… a place that is the symbol of our love."
I saw rows and rows of stones popping above the ground. I saw dried flowers at the foot of each of them. It was a cemetery.
"A cemetery?"
A cemetery is the symbol of our love?
"Yes"
Yes? That’s all she has to say about it? Is she crazy or what?
"A cemetery is supposed to be the symbol of our love?"
She took my hand and went inside. Maybe this is not so odd. Maybe she’s finally got the courage to tell me about some family member who died. Yeah, that must be it.
"I love you so much Stan. I love you so much."
"I…I… love you too… Stella"
Man, I am so fake, I’m so mean. Tell her; tell her you don’t want to go out with her anymore. Just do it. Be a man!
"Stella… I have something important…"
"Shh…" She put her finger on my lips.
"Don’t say anything. Today, I want to talk and only me…"
"Stella, this is…"
"Please Stan"
I shut up. There was that gravity again. Maybe she had something even more important though I can’t think of it. We stood there still for about 5 minutes and I stared as Stella just stood there hugging me for like an eternity. She then lifted her head, her hair falling lazily on her face. Her eyes looking innocently into his… eyes that had once seduced him…
"I don’t know what I’d do without you. I love you so much. You’re so nice to me"
Yeah right. Don’t make this hard for me and for yourself Stella. Let me speak. I …
"I love you to death"
I shuddered.
"HA…" I laughed a nervous laugh and asked, "YOU don’t watch ‘LOVE YOU TO DEATH’ by any chance. Do you?"
"I do. Isn’t it great? You watch it too eh? We have so much in common." And she hugged me tighter.
"I suppose. I mean if you like that entire wife murdering her husband because she suspected a fraud and all…" I said in a whisper even I couldn’t have heard.
"I’ll die without you. I’ll love you till death. That’s why I brought you to the cemetery. It is the symbol of our love."
I nervously laughed again. "You… you are very innovative Stella, very creative. Ha!" she smiled a little. A weird smile that I couldn’t make out. Then I couldn’t take it anymore. "Seriously?" I asked her.
"Dead serious"
I hate gravity.
"You‘re that serious about our relationship? I mean, chill out Stella. We’re just college buddies… I don’t think we should take this…"
I hate her eyes.
We stayed silent for a minute or so. But it felt like 9 generations. I could hear the ticking of the minute hand in my watch, the beating of my heart…
"I’m dumping you"
****************
We were outside the cemetery. I looked at the watch, 12 AM. Classically, all bad and good or anything very significant happens at midnight right? Well, guess our break-up became a classic then. She was not in my arms anymore. Why would she be? She was standing far away.
She told me that she always knew I didn’t want to be with her. She told me something about how weird I used to act around her these days which is true… from her side for the story. For me, she was the one who was the weirdest of all. Right now, I’m not thinking of how happy I will be with Angelica. The only thing in my mind right now is how do I kill her without making it look like I did it? How do I do that? And I thought I was being mean…
She said "I hate you Stan. I couldn’t believe you’d do this to me. I mean how could you?"
I say, how could you? After all that time in the cemetery… how could you? And you call me mean? I should just chill out I guess. Pretend like it never happened but someone from whom you’d least expect something does it to you… it really pisses you off.
She broke up with me.
No, not me but her… just when I was feeling guilty about it and had second thoughts, she broke up. And the reasons in her words were, "I knew you were cheating on me. So I decided to get back at you. I didn’t want you to have the pleasure of dumping me. (Pleasure? What pleasure? Does she think I’m a psycho or something?) In short, all this cemetery, love you to death and all… I was playing with you. Don’t look at me like that Stan, you deserve it. And be happy, it’s the same thing (Same? Same?!!!! Are you out of your mind?) but the other way around. Go hang out with your bloody Angelica. Good riddance!"
Maybe from her part of the story what she did would seem fine but damn! She’s not the one who’s typing this, it’s me and I say, "BITCH! That… that… diplomatic sorry-reason-for-a-girl. Girls are supposed to be nice and bitchy WHEN IT’S NEEDED. She double-crossed me, yeah so I was kind-of cheating on her. Big deal! I was softening up. I was thinking of not doing it because it felt so unfair. But she… not only did she dump me unfairly (had she done only that It wouldn’t have bothered me. I would have perfectly agreed to her reasons. Yes, I would have deserved it) but she also played with me for 1 hr or so pretending that she likes me. What’s the justice in that? What bloody justice is in that? You decide.
