Boys Can be Problem - Introduction

I wish I had a boyfriend. I have been single for gods knows how long. So I ask my mom if I could go to this party. I may be almost 16 (in about a month) but I am still a teenager. I watch my mom as she thought of an answer.
"Please, please", I said holding my hands together.
She looked at me, tilting her head and then sighed. Is she going to say yes. God I hope she does.
"Yes", she said.
That word echo through my head. It was like heaven was looking down on me.
"Really" I said smiling.
She nodded. "Yeah"

I jump up and squealed. I did a full circle twirl. Mom cross her arms
"Rina", she said, using my full name. "Be careful", she warned. "Those boys can go a bit too far. So here".
She grab my arm and place in my hand. I look at it, smiled suddenly damp.
"Pepper Spray!", I squeak out. "Boys don't really use that much worse. I'm sure I won't be using this", I said to her, handing it back.
She curl her hand around mine, squeezing it. "Some do".
I open my hand and look at the black bottle. I then grip, nodding. "Whatever helps you sleep tonight".
"Oh, Rinny, maybe if you stay home, I'll sleep even better".
"Yeah, right", I said grabbing my jacket.

I waved and left. The party was much more public than I expected.
"I thought this was a school party", I whispered to Haley. "That's what I told my mom",
"I didn't even tell my mom I was coming here", she whispered back.
I sighed. My mom is going to kill me when she finds out.
I walk through the people, as Haley was pushing people.
"Jeez, people these days", she said as some guy push into her. The guy turned around.
"Whoa! I'm sorry, it's just so crowded that I got lost in the wave", he said.
Haley turned around sharply and glance at the guy. Her mouth hung open that I had to tap her shoulder. The guy looked really hot. He had a nice body and not my type.

"I'm Jake", he said trying to shake are hand. "I would shake you're hand but it's too crowded in here".
I smiled. "Yeah", I turn to leave but then stop. "By the way, her name is Haley" and then left.
I wander around trying to get someone's attention but they were all drunk and some tried to flirt but end up making an ass of them self. I bit my lip and then push my way to the exit.
This party blows. What happened to parent watching?
And then it happened. The minute I got to the door, he appeared. Jay, my ex-boyfriend or my first boyfriend came in. A blonde girl came up throwing her arms around him. She gave him a sloppy kiss. I felt a rippled of jealous. I guess you don't get over you're first love quick.
