Boxer Dog Diet

Don't know what to feed your boxer dog? Let me show you what you should avoid at all cost.
If you are a boxer dog owner, you already know the basics behind your dog’s diet and why it is necessary to have a natural, raw diet rather than a bag full of dog food. However, if you are looking to own a boxer dog, then it is imperative you learn about their diet before making this delicate purchase. By doing so, you can avoid your boxer from suffering common ailments such as allergies and acute kidney failure.

When you buy a bag of dog food, you are not able to control what types of supplements go into your pet’s body. Yet, the Biologically Appropriate Raw Food diet, better known as the BARF diet, allows you to make adjustments as you, the owner, see fit.

The kinds of foods that make of the BARF diet includes: raw meat and raw meaty bones, muscle meats, raw processed vegetables, offal, fish, eggs, fruit and dairy products. Some owners tend to give their boxer dogs yogurt as a way to keep them healthy. The big benefit with BARF is you don’t have to give them dairy or grains if you see they can’t handle it or don’t want them to have it.

An addition to having food allergies, boxers can get acute kidney failure when they eat grapes or raisins. Studies by the Animal Poison Control Center in the United States are still being conducted on this matter. They are looking at three unanswered questions.

First, does it take small or large quantities of grapes or raisins to become toxic for a boxer?

Second, what is the underlying toxin or toxins?

Third, how does the toxin affect the boxer’s kidneys?

If your animal has eaten any grapes or raisins, take them to your local vet and have a test run on their kidneys. Having a healthy kidney is key for the boxer’s continued existence.
