Coffee drinkers have always worried that coffee might cause an increase in blood pressure levels. New research supports the idea that there is no major problem to worry about. There does not seem to be a clear connection between high blood pressure and coffee intake.

Does blood pressure go up because of high coffee intake? Will drinking too much coffee cause blood pressure problems?
High blood pressure defined by the American Heart and Lung Association as "is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood. If this pressure rises and stays high over time, it can damage the body in many ways."
High BP is also called hypertension and HBP. It’s a condition that affects one out of every three adults. The normal BP reading for an adult is 120/80. Pre-Hypertension is a BP reading of 121/81 to 139/89 in this phase the problem can often be controlled by a change in diet and an increase in physical activity.
Stage 1 hypertension is a level between 140/90 to 159/99 and again a diet change and physical activity is needed to combat the situation. Medications are likely to be prescribed for some patients and all will need to continue to make lifestyle changes.
Stage 2 hypertension is when the readings reach 160/100 and higher. This stage puts the patient in danger of developing other often more serious health problems such as heart attacks and strokes. Medication is definitely necessary along with lifestyle changes.
The symptoms of high blood pressure are often missed by doctors and patients alike the symptoms include dizziness, blurry vision, nausea and headaches all of which can occur on their own with out having an underlying condition. That is why HBP is known as the "silent killer" unless your doctor monitors your blood pressure on a regular basis hypertension is difficult to diagnose. Don’t forget that many patients with a very high BP will have no symptoms at all – so if you don’t have your levels checked then you’ll never know if you are at risk or not.
If you’ve been diagnosed with hypertension then you can make some changes in your lifestyle to help lower it such as a low salt diet, regular exercise program and lowering or eliminating your stress levels. By practicing meditation and yoga, you can learn breathing techniques and relaxation methods that will help you reduce and release your stress, which in return with a proper diet and some exercise will lower your high blood pressure.

The darker the coffee, the more polyphenol compounds it’s supposed to have; so if you enjoy the dark rich Colombian brand then you are probably in better health than most tea drinkers.
