Comment. Smile. Enjoy. This will be Avan and Ksenia's for real date and on that date one of Ksenia's past boyfriends enter the picture. Then after the date Avan goes home to see Monroe in Sandira's clutches!
***Ksenia's POV***
Avan stood up and I followed suit. We smiled dreamily at each other.
"How about that date?" He asked and I nodded mutely. I couldn't speak. He had that effect on me. We went into the house and I used my nose to make sure we weren't caught. I went to a bathroom and washed my face. Then, I straightened my clothes. Avan waited outside and I opened the door. I didn't have time to put on makeup but Avan's eyes oddly lit up upon seeing me. I smiled. He smiled back.
"Ready?" He asked. I nodded. We left the house and I slid into the passenger seat of his car. Inside it smelled strongly of blueberries.
"That's Sandira's perfume." Avan said noticing me wrinkle my nose. I winced. My own mother... Avan reached out and smoothed my hair from my face. He smiled and my lips twitched. Avan's smile broadened and he pulled back. I couldn't help the growl as it escaped my throat. I wanted him to touch my face again. He started the car and he drove us to a nice Chinese restaurant. My stomach growled hungrily and Avan smiled at me. We got out of the car and entered the well-lit restaurant.
A waiter came up to us and seated us at a two person table. It had a nice view of the streets outside. The waiter left us with a menu and took our drink orders. Water for him and diet Pepsi for me. She came back with our drinks and she stared at Avan hungrily. She pointedly asked Avan for his order and he gave it. A small salad. It wasn't like he'd eat it but she seemed delighted that he spoke to her.
Then she turned to me and her smile turned venomous. I grinned with my teeth at her and Avan chuckled to low for the human ear. My order was placed and she wrinkled her nose.
"You'll get fat." She said and glanced at my athletic build. Doubt crossed her features.
Because of my wolf metabolism I always got this treatment. I burned calories by just sitting. It wasn't an issue.
"Your job is to take my order not comment on it." I snapped. She paled. Her pretty playboy features sharpened because of it. I smiled. Then, she smiled. Good actor.
"I'll have those brought out to you by our newest member Joshua."
The name rang a bell but I ignored it like I did my school's bell.
"So." I said and Avan looked at me as Miss Play Bunny sashay away. I grinned, "What's your favorite color?"
"Brown."
"Number?"
"Sixteen."
"Band?"
"Black Veil Brides."
"Book?"
"Just one? There are so many..." He muttered and his expression turned thoughtful, "I have no idea."
"How about you tell me about how you were changed." I tell him and his expression turns hesitant.
"I've never told anybody." He told me and I smirk.
"There's a first for everything." I reply and he nods.
"Okay. I used to have a thing for Sandira." He tells me and I wrinkle my nose. You asked for it, I tell myself. He goes on, "Used to. She ensnared me and even when my Uncle Gabe forbid it I still went out with her. I used to be a mage so I thought I could handle her. I couldn't and she planned to do it all along."
I opened my mouth just as our food arrived with a familiar face. Oh, Joshua... Damn. I had dated this guy for three months. The longest commitment I'd ever made. That's why Miss Play Bunny smiled. She knew...
The handsome man stood in front of our table and just stared. His brows arched. We had broken up because Joshua had to take care of his grandfather in Oklahoma. That had been a year ago.
"Ksenia!" He gasped and looked to the glaring Avan.
"Hi, Joshua." I said and frowned, "Is your grandfather alright?" I asked.
He shook his head and his black hair flopped around. His cat green eyes seemed to pierce through me. Joshua is a shifter from the feline lines.
He mechanically handed out our food before answering, "No. He died." I nodded, some-what sad. Joshua hesitated before walking away. He called over his shoulder, "When you get bored, find me."
It's safe to say that the rest of the evening was uncomfortable.
***Avan's POV***
I was slightly angry at myself for caring so much for a girl I'd just met a while ago. Ksenia's ex seemed to still have interest and I'm sure Ksenia likes him too. Jealousy burned through me after I dropped her off and drove to my house.
I opened the front door with a slight bang and entered the living room after putting my coat and shoes away. Shocked pounded through me.
Monroe sat on one of the leather couches in front of Sandira. What the hell?
