Lucas stood with a blank cold strong look on his face, it was a mask he used when I wasn't around, yet it made him look very mature and unfamiliar, his smiling face made him look very child like but, he actually looked very attractive. He had a strong built body, naturally tanned skin, large baby-like emerald green eyes and yet he had short messy jet black hair. But to me he was a friend who would always stick by me, like a brother, but we were bonded by something stronger than blood. His face automatically lit up as he saw me appear from the gates, his cold mask that had been on his face had disappeared and the excited expression of a child on Christmas morning had taken its place.

"Lexi!" He called out to me. I grinned and he pulled me into a hug. I'd never noticed it but the thought of Lucas being attractive made me see how tall he was, he actually towered over me despite him being only a few months older than me. I chuckled at my own cluelessness and pulled away from him.

"Hey Lucas. Anything tonight?" I asked, now serious. He nodded, understanding the mood change.

"Yeah and we're lucky it's mostly in a secluded area." His voice firm and sturdy.

"Okay. Drink this first." I threw him the vanishing I had in my belt.

We drove off further towards the edge of the city, where the suburbs with mostly houses and schools were. When Lucas finally stopped we were around the corner of a quiet and dark street. Apartment blocks were lined along the street, all pretty rundown on the outside. All of the street posts didn't even work, only the one on the corner worked yet it flickered slightly. Lucas walked around the corner turning into another street yet it only had one apartment block and was a dead end.

Suddenly something stung my head, a dark presence surrounded the apartment and my nose hurt. The apartment reeked of blood, I felt my insides swirl like they had in my nightmare. The smell of blood brought my entire nightmare back, the sickening slaughter and my heart pounding fear. I felt my lunch for today nearly come up my throat. I held it back and stood firm. Before I took another step, I felt the sting from my head come back again, Demetri had told me I was sensing a killing intent when this happened.

"Wait." I cautioned Lucas. After a few moments a woman and two other men stepped out of the apartment, the woman's and one of the men's face was content with victory yet the other man had a bored look on his face, though their clothes were splattered and stained with rich red liquid, my nose protested against the disgusting smell but I still held strong. The woman's hungry eyes were the color of blood exactly like the woman from my nightmare.

The beautiful woman looked like she was younger than me, she had a baby face, pale white skin, bloody crimson eyes, shoulder length curly blonde hair, a curvy face, a skinny body and a short figure, but it was obvious that she was a vampire. I grimaced at her when she smirked smugly at me.

"Who the hell are you?" I demanded at her. The man who had looked content and pleased before now looked interested and even hungrier, his scary eyes stared at me. I almost trembled.

"Who's the girl?" He asked the woman, ignoring me yet not taking his eyes off me. But the woman just chuckled darkly like it was some kind of joke.

"Don't even try, Ian. Demetri's the one who's protecting her." Her high pitched chiming voice mimicked the woman's voice from my nightmare. I hissed at her when she even mentioned Demetri's name.

"She's hot, Demetri's so lucky." How did these guys even know Demetri?! Lucas's face wasn't blank, it was dark with anger, real anger.

"We can't let them talk." The bored man murmured quietly.

"No Kyle, if we touch her we'll be in trouble that we can't handle. Besides I'm pretty sure you won't be able to lay a hand on her even without Demetri." She nodded her head towards Lucas and then the woman smiled at me as if I was her friend, but underneath she truly wanted to rip my head off. I knew it was wrong to give her the chance but I needed to know what she had to do with my nightmares. I put on my blank look and walked slowly over to her yet I wasn't hesitant. The one known as Kyle, stood behind me but I felt his dark glare on my back, I just smirked. But he grabbed my shoulder, never a good thing to do.

"You touch her, I break you." He warned me from behind. I snapped, the smirk that had been on my face had completely been wiped away. Even though I already knew Lucas would destroy this guy I wanted to do it first. I grabbed his hand with both my hands and flipped him over my shoulder, he hadn't even seen me move. He stared up at me with astonished eyes.

"And if you touch me, I break you." I hissed. The other male vampire known as Ian chuckled happily.

"I have to tell you, bro. You just got owned by a girl." Ian grinned at me, but I remained emotionless. I could hear Lucas chuckle slightly behind me though. This was no time to laugh, I sprang into action and grabbed the woman by her throat and pushed her whole body up against a street pole. There was a loud clang as if a car had hit the pole. I grabbed the Black Rose and pointed upwards under her chin.

"You haven't answered my question. Who. Are. You." I demanded the words, not in a sentence but each word by itself. I could feel my hand strained, wanting to pull the trigger to kill this vampire who helped slaughter two people I didn't even know. She smiled, her face had no hint of fear.

"So, it looks like your tampered memories are slowly beginning to come back." I shoved the gun hard into her throat. I was confused because the words coming out of her mouth made no sense. She continued to smile at me.

"My name is Ruby. The memories you've had from before you were four are fake." I scowled at her.

"That's a lie. I was abandoned at the orphanage and have been there since I was an infant. Demetri was the one who adopted you." I hissed at her, furious with her lies.

"No that is a lie. Alexia, some vampires have special powers, erasing and tampering with memories is one that most have. But Demetri did adopt you. He was the one who created an imaginary life from when you were supposedly grew up in the orphanage." Her smile was smug, she knew I was clueless. I pointed at her collar bone and then moved the gun higher. I pulled the trigger and the bullet made a mere flesh wound, but she howled in agony.

"Demetri has nothing to do with this." I argued, my tone now erupting with anger. How could she even talk about Demetri like that with that blood stained mouth of hers. She smirked, even though she was panting and sweating from the pain of the flesh wound.

"Demetri has everything to do with this. That includes what his job is. Has he ever told you about it?" My interest perked but I couldn't stop it. I shrugged.

"Demetri has his reasons." I explained to her casually.

"Yeah, I suppose he does. But do you know about his reasons or anything about him even?" Ruby's child like face made me want to slap her for speaking like an adult. But I knew she was right. What did I know about Demetri, only that he is a vampire, is rich and has a beautiful angelic appearance. I bit my lower lip and hesitated.

"Ruby, we have to go. They're calling." Kyle had rose from the earlier conflict and had just finished a phone call. Ruby turned her head towards Kyle and nodded. She moved her lips so that they were right next to my ear and no one else could hear her.

"Well, it's been a scarring and fun time with you, but I have to leave now. If you want to know more about Demetri and your memories or nightmares as you're seeing them, come find me. I'll tell you everything you want to know." She murmured with pleasure, though her voice was also deep with pain. I let her go but her friend Kyle was right beside me, his eyes infuriated.

"Wanna fight?" I asked rhetorically, knowing he couldn't beat me. He stayed silent even though he wanted to tear me to shreds, he would be even more furious if he found out that I was not even a vampire. But making my day worse by being annoying would make me become a thorn in your side.
I put back the Black Rose and grabbed out one of my daggers out of my belt and sliced Ruby's flesh wound a little more.

I wasn't surprised when she shrieked out in pain, this dagger had was seven inch long and had a snake carved into the silver blade, it was known as the Venomous Snake. Again it is a weapon that does no harm to humans, only abnormal creatures like vampires. Kyle towered over me but his height could do little when we both knew I was the stronger one. Ruby smiled at me darkly and then both Kyle and Ruby disappeared into the dark street. Ian on the other hand hung around, which was something I found annoying. I headed back to Lucas' side and Ian followed.

"Beautiful, fiesty and strong enough to kick Kyle's ass." He grinned broadly at me, I growled at him.

"Get lost and stop smiling at her or I'll rip your mouth off your pretty boy face." Lucas demanded His hands flew up, yet a smirk was still visible on his face.

"Sorry, didn't know she was taken. Well I better get going. I'll maybe see you again sometime A-lex-ia." He spread my name out into syllables, which should have made chills run up and down my spine, but I couldn't care less. I was completely shocked. A million questions raced through my head while I tried to process everything. Why did Ruby know so much about Demetri? What is Demetri hiding from me? What was the thing about my memories? I couldn't even think of an answer to one of those, let alone almost a million. Lucas's voice pulled me back to reality.

"Lexi. Listen carefully." I stopped moving and did as Lucas told. From a distant, there was quiet whimpering and heavy breathing mixed together and a strange sobbing noise, from something that wasn't human. I'd soon figured out it was from inside the apartment block.
