Blank Stare (Let Her Go)
Trying to comfort a friend in sorrow.

When you watch the world go by,
Counting away the seconds,
Wishing away your time,
Living life in a blank stare,
Lost in your own little realm,
Hiding away your secrets,
Pretending that you are calm.
But I see in your eyes, commotion,
I know there is something wrong,
Your thoughts roll around in turmoil,
Fighting their way through the throng.
And a host of conversations,
That argue their own opinion,
Have confused your own morality,
You don't know if you're coming or going.
And still you tell me it's ok,
That you're happy to be alive,
But still I see Death stalking you,
A candidate for suicide,
Your mood is always solemn,
As dignified as a grave,
Determined in your attitude,
But unsure of the rules of the game.
I think it's time to swallow your pride,
To cut your loss and carry on,
You have to face reality,
And the reality is, she's gone,
Time came to a halt on your romance,
And must be left behind,
Forward motion is the only way,
You cannot turn back time.
So bring your head out from the clouds,
And break that blank stare's grip,
You have to find yourself again,
And climb out from the crypt,
That hides away your emotions.
Free your secrets and yourself,
Let her go, she's not for you,
Let her find someone else.
