Blame It On Me
Here's a new story I decided to write, please read and comment! I hope you like it!
"Katie it's not funny." Amanda growled when she got done telling me about her breakup with Jeremy. Yes, I was laughing, but only because of how pitiful she sounded. It was pathetic, especially since she doesn't realize what he's really like. It's ridiculous. I've tried and tried to explain him to her, but she is so oblivious to his constant flirting and how he acts around other girls, even when Amanda and him were dating.
"It's all your fault anyway." She continues.
I stop laughing, suddenly very serious, and mad, "What?"
"You heard me, It's all your fault."
"How on earth is it all my fault, that you and your boyfriend broke up?"
"I bet you convinced him to breakup with me because you were jealous, that I had a boyfriend and you, of course, didn't."
"What? Are you crazy?" I say angrily, "I can't believe you would actually think me capable of that, I thought we were best friends??"
"Ha. Best friends don't take each others boyfriends."
"You know what? Whatever, think what you want, you're a selfish, ignorant, twit, I can't believe I was ever friends with someone like you." I slam the phone down hard and head outside hoping for some fresh air to calm me down.
I start jogging my nightly thee miles, heading first towards the park and then back around the block. As I run I think about what Amanda just said to me, I can't get over how she blamed me for her breakup. This is so unfair! No, what will I do? I've never ignored her or anything before, yet I don't want to forgive her for accusing me either. I slow to a walk when I near my house again, but instead of heading up the drive to go inside, I keep walking not even knowing where I'm heading.
When I finally stop walking I find that I'm at the end of Jeremy's driveway. I see him glance out the window and then he was gone, seconds later he is shoving the door open, and calling out my name. Oh great, what do I do now? How do I explain my reason for being here, when I don't have one?
"Katie." He calls my name again, "What's up?"
I shake my head, "Nothing."
"Whatcha doing here?"
"Uh..."
"It's about Amanda isn't it?"
I nod, even though it wasn't. But what else would I say if I didn't agree to this? I've never been to his house before, why would I just show up?
He sighs, "I know I know, she's upset, but people move on..."
"Yeah. She's upset."
"But I don't like her anymore Katie." He says softly, "I like you."
I roll my eyes, "Nice try Jeremy, but um, I know the way you do things, and I think you should just give up."
He laughs, "You like me, and you know it."
"Nope."
"Yes."
"No, actually I don't, I think you're a player, and not worth my time, so actually I think I ought to be heading home."
"Let me walk with you."
"Ha. No thanks, I'm not 5, Jeremy, I promise I won't get lost."
Scolding myself for even walking over here, I leave Jeremy looking quite bewildered that someone would turn him down. Serves him right, after what he did to Amanda. Wait, I'm supposed to be mad at her...
