Black Smokey Eyes

Black smokey eyes can be the biggest show stopper when they are done by using the correct techniques. Read the following article and get a tutorial on how to do smokey eyes...
Smokey eyes have always been the biggest style statement. They are the best idea for a dramatic and sultry eye makeup. They are the perfect thing to do for those scintillating night affairs. Amongst all the smokey eye colors, I love the look of smokey eyes make up. They bless you with the sexy look to die for! Remember Avril Lavigne? I think she sports the best black smokey eye look amongst the whole glittering bevy. However, the only thing that can cause a lot of trouble for you to get the black smokey eyes, is the proper color techniques, that are a 'bit' hard to understand for an amateur.

The key to get those stunning black smokey eyes, is to blend the color shades really flawlessly. Make sure to blend light base colors with richer dark colors. The basic makeup tools that are required are - dark mascara, black, charcoal or kohl eye pencil and various dark shades of eyeliners like dark brown, black, gray, dark gray, light gray etc. Make sure you use matte and powder eyeshadow for contours and strictly avoid the liquid eyeliners.

Step # 1
It is important to apply a nice primer for keeping your eyelids oil-free. You can use a MAC's paint primer as the base for your eyelids. Now, outline the eye with a dark eye pencil. Make sure that the outline of the upper lid is wider than the lower one. You can also apply the black eyeliner just above the upper lash line, in the middle of the eye.

Step # 2
Now, prepare the bottom eyelid. For that, apply a gray or light colored eyeliner and smudge it with the help of a flat brush or a smudging brush. Once you are done with it, apply a little bit of eyeshadow beneath the bottom lash and smudge it too. It will offer you a more dramatic look.

Step # 3
Now, apply a light gray or dark beige powdered eyeshadow on the upper eyelid. Make sure you apply it with a sponge applicator, above the crease line. Apply it for about half way to the eyebrows and blend it slightly too.

Step # 4
Now, take the charcoal eyeshadow or black eyeshadow and apply it all over the eye with the help of a pointed sponge applicator. Make sure you blend it well with the eye pencil line, which we are assuming as the base line. Half close the eyes and apply the same color to the creases as well.

Step # 5
It is the time to define the outer corners of the eye. For that, create a horizontal "V" shape. Remember that the pointed end of this "V" shape will serve as an apparent shape of your eye. Now take a medium-sized soft round brush/flat brush and blend the eyeshadow neatly on both the eyelids.

Step # 6
Reapply the contour colors with a sponge. The more you apply it, the darker shade will you get. Now, dab face powder under the eyebrows for the makeup to look natural. Lastly, outline the inner contour of the eyes with a kohl eyeliner and use dark mascara to finish the look of the black smokey eyes.

You can also use an eyelash curler for the eyelashes to appear long and thick. To highlight your eyes, always wear minimum makeup. So, just wear a strong blush and light lip gloss and you are ready to allure every person who looks at you! Well, it was quite easy. Wasn't it? As a parting tip, I would advise you to practice these tips for black smokey eyes well, before trying them for a major event.
