Black Onesies: Not a Mainstream Product

Shopping online for niche products is sometimes the only option.
Black Onesies: Not a Mainstream Product
A black onesie is something that you most likely won't ever find at a mall or at a large chain store. Typically supply and demand dictate what ends up in the mainstream market. Those who do the purchasing for larger retail giants don't really have a clue as to what is cutting edge or what customers really desire. There is a disconnection that occurs when these buyers spend all of their time talking to the same suppliers without looking into alternative areas for unique product ideas.

The separation or disconnection is made worse by the large number of online stores now that sell unique items like black onesies and keep their sales figures to themselves. Is this a bad thing? I don't think so. I think it's a great thing. It's bringing back the "mom and pop" shop. It's just online now instead of down on the corner.

Black onesies are quite the fashion statement. The black t-shirt is a fashion statement among adults. Just look at Simon sitting next to Paula and Randy. He is always sporting a plain black shirt. Simon probably isn't the best example of a fashion guru, but one only has to look around in the fashion world for a few minutes to find good examples of black shirts in fashion. Black infant clothes fit well with the punk rock and alternative crowd who are now having babies as well. It fits mom and dad's style very closely and makes a statement about who they are and what they want others to perceive about them. The black onesies can either be plain or decorated with some type of printed design or saying. Black baby clothes are a unique option for new parents who are looking for an alternative to the typical and over used pastel blues and pinks.

Another area where black onesies are extremely useful is in black and white photography. Most families and especially new families frequently have family photos or baby photos taken with their new pride and joy. When shooting photographs in black and white, colored infant garments end up with an odd gray tone. Most professional photographers prefer shooting their subjects wearing black garments that will blend into the background. Online stores are typically the only option for obtaining black onesies for this purpose. Looking at your local retail stores will ultimately provide no results.

Black baby garments are definitely not for everyone. Most people still prefer what the mainstream baby marketplace has to offer. Cute little pink baby clothes for girls and the boring baby blue clothes for boys. Lucky for this crowd, these items can be found at every single store on every single corner in America and usually at a very discounted price. The reason is because you can get them everywhere and there is nothing special about them. A portion of the younger generation on the other hand is more than ready to dive into new, more edgy, and alternative designs and colors including black. Why is this group ignored in the mainstream market?

As long as the large retail stores continue to "play it safe" and only offer the boring and typical baby clothing items then the only source for new and fresh things will be on the internet. For the up and coming, cutting edge, online businesses of tomorrow, this is good thing. Internet shopping is growing at an alarming rate and there is no slow down in site. Black onesies are just one example of a niche product that has become popular without the assistance of the big chain stores or shopping malls. There are literally thousands of niche products that people are buying everyday that can only be found on the world wide web.
