Black Mamba - Part 4 and 5
We continue seeing how Oya copes with the new survivor and the rest of the team.
Part 4
"Hello Oya how are you tonight?" A cheery voice said and I looked up flashing a smile for a mere second.
"Hello Janet, other than well having to endure the stank of people here. We have fresh meat."
Janet, an attractive woman in her late thirties was the appointed doctor in chief. She was smart, witty, caring and beautiful. She had her fair share of suitors, but I suspected she was waiting for Zeus to make a move. Even in her long white jacket and light green slacks, Janet radiated, I thought with a slight pang of envy. Her skin was fair and perfect, blue eyes atop a button nose and rosy heart shaped lips. Her chestnut hair was tied in a pony tail that trailed down her back. I turned and looked at Takuma then Achilles and finally the survivor and shook my head as the three men had their gaze fixed on the doctor.
Predictable. I shook my head and stood up with a yawn and rolled my shoulders back with a crack. "Well, I'm done here, going to my..."
"No," I blinked at the interruption and my temper flared as I whirled around ready to tell whoever said that to shove it. "The fuck you... oh. Hey Zeus." Achilles snickered softly next to me while Takuma had the decency to look away. Zeus shook his head and tapped Takuma's and Achilles shoulder motioning them to leave.
Zeus turned to Janet and I rolled my eyes at how ridiculous they were. Why don't they just get together already, it's sickening to watch. Zeus eyes softened and he lightly ran his fingers over her arm as he whispered something in her ear. Janet cast me a worried glance before she nodded at him and exited the room. Raising a brow, I let myself drop back down unto the seat and placed my right ankle over my left knee. Untying my hair, I let the long flowing dreadlocks fall down and brushed them back as I toyed with the elastic band.
As no one said a thing, the silence stretched in the room until I raised my eyes and looked at Zeus annoyed. Get with it you big ape, want to get out of here. Never liked the clinic, stinks of people and alcohol and shit. Zeus stared at me back as he seemed to search for his words before he looked at the man on the gurney then back at me.
"Oya. You'll be watching him." I raised a brow and before I could answer he raised a hand silencing me and turned to the man. "Where are you from?" The man cleared his throat, brushing his dark locks away from his face. "I was heading for Olympus. When I reached the old highway 59, I stayed on it hoping to go up to Houston where maybe I could find a car or something." He closed his eyes slowly before he opened them and rested them on me. "Before I even reached Houston, I must have been somewhere around Victoria city. Bodies were piled up in the middle of the highway like... like someone was trying to make a great wall of China, but with corpses." He shuddered lightly and looked up at Zeus. "I was a marine. I've seen a lot of shit. But that..." He simply shook his head as if he could shake the horror away.
I rolled my eyes and folded my arms over my chest. "Ok, we get it, it was gruesome. Why are you here now?" Zeus shot me a warning glanced to which I shrugged in answer, my eyes staying trained on the man. He shifted, the gurney squeaking in protest. "Rumors. Some people that I had met previously were heading for the west, I think they said Babylon. Said there was a place called Noah's ark in old Corpus Christi. When I saw what was up on highway 59 I turned back around and walked to here."
I stared at him a moment. His story was just too well composed. I didn't believe a word of it. "So you're trying to tell me, you walked all the way here. And this is as much damage as you have?" I raised a brow, a smirk dancing on my lips. He looked at Zeus but saw he had the same question in his eyes before he looked back at me. "I met a few... but nothing grand. Hence the weapons I had. I ran out of ammo some two hours before I got here. I was just lucky."
Silence fell on the room as Zeus and I stared at the man. I wasn't about to reassure him that's for sure. Another meat rack I had to protect, I wish he'd just do the favor of falling dead but as always I'm not that lucky. I sighed and stood up, raising my arms above my head in a stretch.
"Well get cleaned up. You reek. Don't want it permeating my clothing." With that said I turned around and walked towards the door. As usual as I reached the door, Zeus's voice made me halt. "Oya. Go to the main panel room. I'll send him there when we're done. Be ni-... never mind just don't kill anyone." A smile danced on my lips at his parting words and I nodded before I pushed the door open and walked out.
I barely had time to look up that I caught Takuma and Achilles slyly trying to slide away from the door. I turned around doing a roundhouse kick, stopping my foot mere inches from Achilles chest. "Snooping can get you hurt." I dropped my leg back to the floor and glanced to my right, Takuma having stepped forward probably wondering if he should stop me. Achilles didn't move, his lips thinned and his gaze unreadable. I turned around and shoved Takuma into the wall before walking past him. "Scum..." I muttered as I slid my hands into my pockets and strolled down the hall whistling, what a wonderful world.

Part 5
Oya and Raz slowly get to know each other... not that it necessarily is a good thing.
************************************************************
A loud banging sound startled me awake. My hand flying to my left side grabbing the derringer in its holster, my finger checked off the safety as I lifted the weapon and pointed it up towards the noise. Zeus looked down at me with an amused smile on his lips. I groaned and sat up straight bring my legs down from the table. I had been waiting for two hours and apparently had dozed off. Zeus shook his head as he placed a finger on the barrel of the gun and lowered it.
"Oya meet Raz. He's your new partner." I nearly fell off my chair as I blew into a coughing fit. He has got to be fucking with me. "My What?!" I shouted, several heads turning to look in my direction. Zeus gave me a look full of reproach and pressed his fists to the table as he leaned in his eyes starring into mine. "Your new partner. You need to be more... social." I scoffed and shook my head. "No, no. I don't need another meat stack to look after." He shook his head and leaned back. "The decision is final Oya. Deal with it." With that said he turned around and walked away. I raised my gun pointing it at the back of Zeus head and made a shooting gesture as I said, "Bang," softly. "Heard that." Was all Zeus said before he waked out of the room.
I groaned and looked up at Raz, my breath caching in my throat. Now this is interesting. He wasn't burly and fat. The man was a fucking rock. His shoulders were twice as wide as mine, the commissioned black t-shirt stretching over his muscled chest. His beard had been shaved except for a closely trimmed goatee. His hair remained the same length though now clean, the dark straight locks nearly black. I slowly looked him over, taking in his features. He wasn't blow your mind kind of handsome. No. He wasn't that handsome really. But he had that raw masculine feel. He looked all testosterone, his jaw squared, his nose lightly crooked from what you could tell were too many fractures. As I reached his eyes, I noticed a light glint of amusement in them as he caught me starring. I shrugged and stood up placing the derringer back into its holster.
"So, Marine boy, eat or train?" He cleared his throat and spoke, a smooth baritone voice glazing his words. "Food would be appreciated." I scrunched my nose and stood up rolling my dreads into a bun before I snapped the hair band unto it. I stuffed my hands in my pockets and indicated one of the many doors with my chin. He stared at me a moment before he turned around and walked towards the door. My gaze ran over his broad muscled back then inched lower. Nice ass. I chuckled softly to myself at how ridiculous I was being and looked back up only to find him looking back at me, an amused smile dancing on his lips. I scowled at him and stormed past his figure, lightly bumping his arm as I entered one of the many kitchenettes.
I looked at the two women working the stove and cleared my throat as they gossiped to each other. As they looked up their smiles faded quickly and their eyes dropped to the floor. "General Oya, how may we help you?" I grunted lightly at their pathetic submissive behavior and waved dismissively in Raz's direction. The women looked up and both their gaze soften, one going even as far as lightly fixing a strand of her hair. Here we go again I thought, as Raz stepped forward an offered a gentle smile. "Whatever is available would be appreciated, I'm starving at the moment." The women nearly cooed in front of him and I snorted in disgust. Pa-the-tic.
Raz glanced back at me and raised a brow as the women worked around making a plate for him. After about five minutes of me tapping my foot impatiently, they brought him his food. A large bowl of meat stew, bread, rice with vegetables and a piece of chicken were all placed unto a large tray. Raz thanked them then looked at me expectantly. "What the fuck you looking at?" I asked my patience having already been stretched to its limit. "Right back at you." He simply answered before he pushed the door and held it open for me. I looked him up and down and rolled my eyes before moving past him.
"Where are we going?" He asked as we walked along the corridor. The urge to tell him to shut the fuck up itched at me but I pressed my lips tightly. His voice sent shivers down my spine and I hated him the more for it. Big fat piece of meat. He let out a sound close to a growl and I whirled around making him stumble back raising the tray so it wouldn't slam into my face.
"Listen you piece of meat. I don't give a fuck who you are, where you're from or where you're going. Unless it's in a grave and I'm the one having the pleasure to put you there. I'm not here to be you're friend. I don't want to be your partner but evidently I don't have a choice. So do me the favor of shutting the fuck up. You growl at me one more fucking time I'll break you jaw so bad you'll need to have it wired shut for at least a month and growling will be the only thing you can fucking do while we feed you with a fucking straw." I kissed my teeth as he looked down at me his brows raising as his jaw clenched tightly. He nodded slowly then pointed ahead motioning me to walk. "Yes mam." I raised a brow and turned around walking along the corridor.
As we reached my door and pushed it open and motioned for him to sit at the desk. "Sit here don't touch my shit, don't talk and we will get along just fine." With that said I laid back on my bed folding my left arm under my head and stared at the ceiling as he sat down quietly. We must have been silent for a good ten minutes when I felt his gaze on me and opened my eyes catching him as his eyes wandered over my frame. I kept quiet till he reached my eyes and raised a brow. "Why are you such a bitch?" He asked his tone flat as he raised a brow in curiosity. I sat up and let out a soft laugh.
"Don't have a reason not to be one. How's that?" He grunted and shook his head. "You're a sociopath you know that?" I narrowed my gaze on him and scoffed."Not. I just see people for what they really are. Either you are the abused or the abuser. You pick which side of the fence you want to be on. My job is to kill, not give a shit. Which I don't." I blinked and frowned lightly, how the hell did he do that? Get me to talk. I looked at him and a smirk curved his lips before he took a bite of his rice.
"Fuck you." I muttered as I laid back down and he chuckled softly before he replied "Anytime."
I let out a light growl and flung a cup which was lying on my bedside table at his head. He caught it and placed it on the desk. "I'm not one of your inferiors General. So with all due respect. Fuck off." I blinked and sat up straight, swinging my feet to the floor.
Before I knew it my hand flew up and moved to punch him square in the jaw. My luck evidently prevailed and he was up before I knew it and blocked my arm gripping it tightly. I spun around but he held unto my arm pressing it across my chest as I raised my left foot to kick in his kneecap only to find myself lifted up off the ground. I growled as he grabbed me in a bear lock and pushed me face first into the wall. I tried pressing my palms to the wall but he was bigger and stronger when it came to pure physical strength. Panic surge through my body and I began trashing against him as a flashback hit me full force. I could feel the flames licking at my feet again before my head was yanked back by my hair. I let out a scream, and didn't stop till I felt someone shaking me. I rose to find myself slumped unto the floor tears building in my eyes as green eyes looked into mine in concern.
"I'm sorry..." He began before I punched him in the nose causing blood to spray down as he let out a groan cupping a hand underneath it.
"You fucking bitch!" He growled before he launched a punch blindly which I was lucky enough to duck considering the dent it did in the metal wall. I slid away from him and grabbed a towel and flung it at him.
"Do that again and I'll kill you in your sleep you mountain of shit." He glared at me catching the towel and pressed it under his nose while I smirked my hands on my hips. I watched as the white towel slowly became red as his blood covered it and licked my bottom lip. I resisted the urge to take it into my hand and bring it to my lips, the sweet metallic smell filling the room. I needed a distraction.
Turning around I reached in my mini-fridge, opening the small freezer compartment and pulled out an ice pack. Standing up I slapped his hands away from his nose to which he growled. I glared up at him and he settled back seeing what I was attempting to do. Yanking the towel away I shoved him unto the bed and leaned in front of him wiping the blood away before I checked his nose. "Not so bad didn't punch that hard." I gripped it with my thumb and index and snapped it back into place. I'll give him credit he barely flinched when I did that and then applied the icepack to his nose. His hand moved up and he rested it over mine sending a shock up my arm which echoed throughout my body.
My eyes widened and I froze snatching my hand away as there was a knock on the door. I turned around annoyed. "What?!" I snapped as the door opened revealing Achilles. He raised a brow and I looked back at Raz backing away quickly as I realized I was standing between his thighs. Achilles looked from me to Raz then back at me before he smacked his lips. "Control room." He said before stepping out.
"Hello Oya how are you tonight?" A cheery voice said and I looked up flashing a smile for a mere second.
"Hello Janet, other than well having to endure the stank of people here. We have fresh meat."
