Bitter Orange As Weight Loss Supplement

Oranges are amongst the most rated and highly devoured variety of fruit. Although there diferent forms of oranges in the market, researchers have shown great interest in the common bitter orange after finding that it contains a number of natural alkaloids that safely increase weight-loss. Still, there is no specific proof which shows that this supplement is good enough to take.

Bitter orange contains synephrine and octopamine - chemicals that are similar to ephedrine in ephedra. These chemicals may cause high-blood pressure and heart-rhythm disturbances, which can lead to heart attack, stroke and even death- the same thing which occurred with ephedra (a weight loss drug that has now been withdrawn from the market). These risks get increased when bitter orange is taken with other weight-loss supplements such as caffeine and decongestants.

There s also evidence that bitter-orange may interfere with body’s metabolic processes resulting in perniciousness. Although animal studies have found bitter orange to be functional for weight-loss, but so far human studies have not supported it. People with heart disease, high blood pressure and other severe medical problems should obviate it wholly altogether.

A study conducted by a famed foundation has discovered that currently, there is little validation to hint that bitter orange is safer and sound to use than ephedra. The researchers have even said that there is no sufficient evidence to suggest that bitter orange helps in advancing weight-loss. It is on the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) banned supplements list.

Hence, as per the above information, I would like to say that biter orange is not safe to use and you should not waste your time and money into it. Eating less and exercising still apperaes to be the safest way of reducing weight!
