Bitten Wings

She's given wings that change with her surroundings, but they've kept her away from a normal teenage life. (Should I continue this? Please comment!!!)
I've been watching their civilization grow, watching it eat the forest and all its inhabitants alive. But I have never entered the cities, for if I did, I might just be killed. I watched in envy as couples walked past the dark tree I hid in. I sighed to myself, I could never have a man of my own. If they called kids with classes freaks, what would they call me? They'd call the authorities, I thought silently to myself. As another couple passed a caught his eye. He stopped and turned, "Who's up there?"
I stayed quiet as always, waiting for them to move on. But they didn't.
"What is it, Drake?"
"I don't know," the teenage boy steeped into the darkness of the tree. "Who's up there?"
"Drake, lets just go, we have dinner tonight and we don't want to be late," the blond haired girl pleaded.
"Okay, okay." Drake said, sighing. Then he turned and left, moving on with his girlfriend.
She has no idea how lucky she is, I thought.
I looked around to see any other couples coming by, there were none. I took a chance I didn't usually take this early in the night and jumped into the air, my wings changing to the color of the sky.
"I knew it!"
I looked down to see Drake and his date staring up in amazement. I wasn't high enough to look like I was flying, so a faked a tumble and landed on my feet. My wings changed into the darkness of forest behind me.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
What a stupid question, I thought. "I'm fine. Now just leave me alone." I snapped.
"Okay, I was just wondering."
"Drake, she's fine, now lets go!"
I shot a glance at the girl, then waved with my gloved hands, "Girlfriend's right. Leave."
He glanced at the gloves I was wearing, black and ending at the beginning of my fingers, then scanned me. I backed away, not know what to say, how would I? I've never been in an actual conversation before! I backed farther away, into the darkness of the forest. He continued to stare at me, was I supposed to say something?
"Um, is there anything else you want to say?"
He didn't answer, just continued to stare at me.
"Fine, I'm going." then I backed into the darkness, hiding my back until I was shrouded by the darkness of the forest. I turned and ran, leaping up and flying over the large fence that kept out the animals. Not like there were many. I continued down the wild, allowing myself to fly slowly, spotting the few animals that lived this close to the border. I sighed as I reached my cave that was lodged into the side of a cliff. Only people with lifting fans instead of metal clingers could reach me. I stepped into the darkness of the cave, pulling out a lighter I took from some drunk unable to notice I was taking it from his hands. I opened it and entered a code I heard the drunk shouting around. The holoscreen flickered for a moment, reading the code, then allowed me to use it. It gave off a slight light, which did just fine, I knew my own house well enough. I heard something shout outside, urgent sounding. The birds were sounding an alarm, something new was entering the forest. I shrugged it off as the daily patrol the city did to make sure no kids or drunks had found a way over the fence. And, according to the birds' shrieking call, I was right. I turned the small lighter off, then continued down the tunnels of my cave.
I walked down the tunnel, know exactly where I was, then set myself down on the small, stolen hover mattress. It shifted under my sudden weight, then floated on the metal I had placed beneath it. I sighed as I pulled up the covers, shifting my wings into a comfortable position, I wish I could normal, living among the humans, sharing in their troubles. Except of something called school. That didn't sound like much fun at all. I closed my eyes, setting the hover bed to protect. I could never be too sure, especially if something was stirring in the woods. Something that wasn't the patrols or even human at all. Their name came to me and I shuddered, vampires.
