Bitten Wings Part 2

Vampire attacks...
I woke up at dawn, like I always do. I set the hover bed to off, sending it falling to the floor in a thud. I set out to find something to eat, spreading my white wings that were still waking up, a jumping off the cliff. I fell momentarily, until I caught the wind, sending me spiraling upward. I laughed; breaking the tension of the forest. I flew to my pond, landing at the water's edge gracefully. I sat down, staring at the water for some kind of movement. Then I noticed it, it was strange. Nothing in the forest was making a sound, no birds saying their hellos to the sun, no fish dodging under water. It was if I was the last living thing on earth. I got up stiffly, pushing away bushes, searching for any sign of life. There was none. A crack of a twig made me freeze. I turned around slowly. Nothing was there. Whoever was there, however, saw my wings. They were still white. I jumped as another twig snapped to my right. I was more scarred than I ever was.
"Who's there?" I said, trying to keep my voice straight.
As expected, no one answered. Another snap behind me scarred me enough to fly. I jumped into the air, into the day light, hoping to see anything. Nothing. I sighed, then flew over the tree tops, heading to the city. Maybe I could scavenge some food there.
And maybe it will be something healthy this time.

I settled in on my normal tree, my wings finally shifting to the tree's shade. I went up higher, just in case a caught some annoying guys eye again. I flexed my fingers in the cold, wrapping my feathered wings around me. They changed to the color of my black shirt. Now I just looked like some freak who climbed to high in the tree. I sat up there, swinging my legs, wondering if I could steal some more workable jeans. Mine were beat up from a life in the wild, torn in every area possible, just barely staying together. I fingered the holes with my left hand, at least my gloves where still alive, I don't know where I could find another pair just like these. I watched as the buildings slowly flickered to life, a window now and then turning a light on and off. A few hover boards flew by my tree. Oh, how I wish I could get my hands onto one of those. I watched as the hover cars flew overhead, carrying whoever was in there to the hospital.
Crazy drunks, I thought.
"I didn't think I'd see you here again."
The voice took me by surprise, nearly falling off the branch I was balanced on. I looked down darkly at who said that, then hissed, "Drake."
He blinked, "How do you-"
"Your girlfriend said it enough. Now why don't you go pick her up, and leave."
"I was actually looking for you."
Okay, hold up. What did he say? Looking for me? No one looked for me! I was invisible!
"What?" I managed to croak.
"Yeah, that whole disappear near the forest border was kinda weird. . And mysterious."
"Okay, I get it. Jokes over, now can you go please? I missing out on that fight behind you."
He turned to see what I was talking about. Then turned back, "I don't see any- hello?"
I had already left, disappearing, like he said, near the forest border. I chuckled from my view on an old oak, one that stretched up into the sky on the wild side of the border. I don't know why I never watched from this tree. He was dumbfounded, it was hilarious.
I couldn't help but laugh, he continued to look in the tree, shouting for me. He cursed then flew away on his hover board. I laughed again as he searched another tree nearby.
Couldn't he just admit she got away from him? He grumbled then left the border, heading into the distance. I stretched out my wings, and put my hands behind my head. Well, this was going to be fun, I could see farther than in her old tree, things just weren't as clear. I adjusted my back and hid, watching the humans make their way. Nodding and smiling at each other. Something caught my eye, a flash of light coming from. .my cave!
I jumped up and flew there as quickly as I could to find my things scattered about, disorganized and broken. A lone figure stood out in the cave, he was covered from head to toe in black clothing, not a single part of his body showed but his eyes. He turned to me, staring with icy eyes. I glanced back to see me wings were already ready, invisible to the eye. I sighed silently to myself, then looked at the figure again.
"Who are you? What do you want?"
Even underneath all those layers the man said, "Shouldn't you be in the city?"
I stiffened, this man, from the city? "Er-"
"No, I didn't think so. My name is Addere Timeo. Or Addere for short."
My mind rung with the Latin word, wondering what it meant.
"Come with me," he said before I could say anything, "and get away from the city. Come with me to the land of the. . ."
At his falter, I knew what he was, "Vampire," I hissed. Then stepped into the sun light.
Addere clenched his fist in anger, then smiled, showing his fanged teeth.
"Where ever you go, I can follow."
I steeped back further, asking, "Why do you want me?"
"Because, if you are bitten by the Vampire King, we can finally gain control of this puny earth."
I stepped back of the cliff, my wings straining to keep me flying. "What?! I'm just-"
"Your the human gifted with wings. You get bitten, and the vampires' can use your power to control this world."
I pushed back into the air with my feet, "What power? Aren't vampires already able to fly?"
Addere snickered, "You really don't know." then he leapt at me, fangs trying to bite me anywhere. I pushed up with my wings, watching him fall, staring up at me dangerously with those icy eyes.
"Okay, now I really believe vampires exist." then I flew over the border, seeking shelter in the city.
