Bitten Wings Part 19

Taste of blood, taste of doom, taste of plans..
"You can't keep me here," I growled. I was forty feet underground, in a tall building that was built farther down than all the other buildings. No one knew I was being held here, that was still human at least. Chains wrapped around my neck, twice across my arms, and around my wrists. He smiled at me and stroked my chin, "Don't worry, I plan on taking you home with me."

"You can't make me."

"On the contrary, I will. Or, more specifically, you will go willingly. Do you feel the buzzing in your fingertips? Can you feel the power rushing through you?"

I shuddered. It was true. My fingers were practically shaking.

"I won't let this happen," I whispered, more trying to reassure myself than him.

He laughed, "It's impossible. If you're bitten by another of the Winged, it is impossible to fight back the poison."

"I don't believe you."

He laughed again, "Believe what you want, what I say is true." he grinned.

"I WON'T LET IT HAPPEN!" I strained against the chains, the metal digging into my skin. I batted my wings, trying to break the bonds.

"Can you feel it?" he mocked, "can you feel the power? The anger? The hate? Can you feel it coming?"

I screamed out again, lifting my feet up, and standing horizontal on the wall, pushing with my legs against the bonds. He continued to laugh at my efforts to get away. Until..until the loud crack echoed around the small room. My eyes narrowed, my mouth a wicked grin as his faded.

"It isn't possible! You can't get out! You're chained in too many places!"

I pushed harder, the chains breaking, shattering. I flipped and landed on my feet smoothly, the chains that were still around my wrists jingling. I cocked my head at him. His eyes were wide, as if he had witnessed something tragic. I grinned, "Surprise!"

He turned and ran, but I was quicker. I passed him and stood, arms crossed, leaning in the doorway.

"Going somewhere?" I asked serenely.

He jumped back, "How did you-? How could you-? Please, My Queen, please. I was only trying to help you! Spare me please!"

I put my hand to my lips, looking at the ceiling in thought.

"Now, let me think....No, I don't think so."

His face fell, "Please! No! My Queen!"

Then I was holding him, gripping him tightly. His air was coming short, and I kissed his neck.

"Stop struggling, you'll only waist what’s left of your pathetic life." then my fangs were in him. He shouted out, but my hand was over his mouth, stopping him. He struggled for air as I drank his blood. Then I pulled back. Stumbling back to the ground. I looked at the vampire that had just enough blood to barely live. I held my mouth, about to throw up. My breath was choppy, "I can't...I-" I looked up on him, twitching on the ground.

"I'm so sorry." I mumbled, getting to my feet, shaking.

Yet, I craved more. It was an undying hunger in me now. Finish him! Shouted my mind, Drink! I shivered, my heart telling me this was wrong. Finally I gave in and let my stomach out. It was all red. The sight of it made me want to puke more, but nothing came. I shuddered. My head was ringing, my hands shaking, my mouth trembling.

"No," I said to myself, "no, I have to refrain. I can't do this. I've got to calm down-"

I screamed out with horror and pain. I whipped around, finding the vamp pulling a dagger out of my right wing. The scales where broken and blood was running freely down my leathered wing.

"Give in, My Queen!"

"You're doing this on purpose! You want me to kill you!"

He swung at me again, "Once you kill me, you are forced to give in. Can't you feel the hunger? The craving-"

"SHUT UP!" I hit him across the head, running out the door and onto the stairs quickly. He wasn't far behind, but his injury caused him to be slower.

"Please, My Queen, let me help you!"

"Stop calling me that! Stay away from me!"

"Your Majesty-"

"Stop it!" He was doing this on purpose, he wanted me to get angry. He wanted me to kill. I wasn't about to let him win. I couldn't let him. I wasn't about to destroy the world! Then he grabbed my limp wing, pulling me back down the stairs. How could he be so powerful with that much blood? I skidded down the stairs, hitting my back on the wall. I barely moved quick enough to evade the dagger that came down where my shoulder was.

"You're going to kill me!" I shouted in horror, jumping back onto the stairs.

He grinned darkly, "Nearly."

I screamed in horror, running up the stairs quicker now. The ringing in my head started to drive me insane. The buzzing started to shake me, my breath becoming short. Unconsciously I started to slow down, suddenly tired. He grabbed my shoulders and I finally realized who it was. Addere. He looked so different without the layers of clothes on.

"Why," I gasped, "aren't you afraid of the light?"

He snickered, "You've been bitten, thus giving us the power to walk in the light."

"No," I said, gasping harder for air.

He laughed, "You're giving in."

I couldn't respond, the air was no longer nurturing, but suffocating. He let me fall to the ground, clawing at the metal steps for air. My hands became tense, and I tried to pull myself up the stairs. Addere grabbed the back of my neck, pulling me up, "Now, my Queen, you are finally one of us."

I screamed, using what was left of my breath. I gasped, clawing the wall in pain.

"No...I can't...No, make it stop."

He knelt down next to me, "It will pass away soon, My Queen." he stroked my black hair, whispering something in my ear. I didn't pay attention under the pain. I clenched my eyes closed, tearing at my arms. Red streaks appeared, Addere pausing and standing up. He gripped my shirt, pulling me along like a doll.

He threw me into the elevator, causing me to hit my head. I reached up and felt the blood, then stared at my red hand. A forked tongue came a licked it. I screamed in my own horrific change and quickly wiped off the blood with trembling hands. Addere glanced at me, "Almost done now, aren't you?"

He flicked a switch, sending the doors to a sudden close, and the elevator jolting upward. He leaned against the wall, watching me tremble.

"Make it stop," I pleaded.

He grinned, and shook his head, "Not in this life time."

Tears streamed down my face, "Monster."

"Don't worry, you'll be joining us in that category."

The elevator stopped suddenly, Addere swiftly grabbing my by the collar, and pulling me out. The sun was out, and we were on the roof top. I pushed myself up, struggling.

"Do you wish for the pain to leave, My Queen?" he asked, tauntingly.

I looked up at him, eyes narrowed. He grabbed my chin, and forced me to look ahead. Two vamps held both Drake and Jean. My forked tongue fell out, and I had to fight myself to stay sane.

"If you drink their blood, it will stop."

I started to tremble, and I looked away, bringing my tongue back in. My breath was labored. I could literally smell their fear, hear the blood pulsing through their veins, sense how weak and fragile they were.

No, I thought firmly, I won't. I won't give in. But as I thought these words, it became harder to restrain myself. I had tasted blood before, and I craved it now. It was disgusting. Blood of all things! I closed my eyes, held my ears, and hummed to myself. It was a song of praise I heard the church singing before. The Lord of Dance was what it was called. I gave me comfort, knowing my Lord was with me. The craved died down, but a thought came into my head. I grinned inwardly, nodding subconsciously, knowing what I had to do. I got to my feet, no longer in pain, and swiftly went over to Drake. I whispered in his ear to play along, I'm not going to hurt him. I placed my lips against his neck, then bit my tongue with my fangs. Blood flooded my mouth and I left his neck leaving the illusion he had just been bitten. He crumbled to the ground. I forced myself not to grin. The vampires had no idea what was coming at them.
