Bitten Wings Part 18

*sigh* will Angel ever stop getting in trouble? I doubt that's even possible for her..
I landed frantically in the cave so familiar to me. The sensation of power was starting up. Screaming, I searched for Marcus. He ran out, jacket half on, mouth full of meat.

"Angel?" he said in a slurred way.

"The cure! I need it now!"

"Angel I though-"

"I SAID NOW!"

He jumped back, then dug inside his pocket. He pulled out a vile of purple liquid, with strange things floating around inside.

"How long since-"

"Give it!" I snatched it from his hand, bitting the top of the glass, and chugging it down. Glass pricked my tongue and mouth, but I swallowed none the less. I couldn't allow myself to change. I couldn't let this happen.

"Angel! That's too much! Stop!"

I ignored him, then spat glass out at his feet. He jumped back as a finished off the vile the size of both of my fists together. I threw the glass vile down, letting it shatter on the ground. I gasped hard, then rested against the side of the cave.

"Angel! You drank the whole vile!"

I coughed, "Glass doesn't taste very good."

"You drank the whole vile!"

"Big deal."

"It's dangerous! You finish off a vile in a month! Not one day!"

"Like I said, big deal. I'm about to doom the world, I think I'm an exception."

"Listen to me, if you drink a whole vile before a month, then you can get horribly sick, some have even gotten close to death."

"Maybe that's the point."

"To die?!"

"Well, if I die, then I can't doom the world, can I? I'll be dead."

"Stop it! Everyone needs you!!"

"Coming from you, that' strange."

He glared at me, "Oh, shut up."

I grinned, then got to my feet, feeling less power, less shaky.

"So..."

He glanced at me, then laughed, "You miss her, don't you?"

"I do not!"

"Then how did you know who I was talking about?"

"Because you miss her!"

"Oh, funny!"

"'Oh, he can't control himself, oh, poor Marcus. Let's all pity him so he can betray us!'"

His face got red with anger, "I-"

"You betrayed us. I know. Don't have to explain it to me. Just to the rest of the world that you got me bitten. Thanks a lot, Marcus!"

"I gave you the cure!"

"I wouldn't 've needed it if you didn't betray us!"

He fell silent, his fist clenched.

"I thought so. Now, can I trust you this time or not?"

He rolled his eyes, "Yes you can!"

"Good, cause I'll need more of that cure."

"You finished off the last of it, I was going to town to get more when you barged in."
"I'll come with you."

"With those?"

I looked at my wings, then sighed. But to my surprise, after a quick memory of being able to hide my wings, they disappeared. I looked perfectly normal. I grinned, my new teeth shimmering. Marcus shivered, then grabbed my arm.

"Come on, get on this board."

I stepped oddly onto the hover board, the fans' loud pitches ringing in my ears. I threw my arms out to steady myself as Marcus stepped on. He leaned forward, and I grabbed onto his wrists. The hover board moves swiftly, fist flying over the trees, then coming down as gravity kicked in.
--

I walked into the hotel, stopping near the counter. I sighed, nervous. I had planned to meet Marcus in the park a little after noon, but I couldn't help but I feel like everyone could see who I was, see I wasn't one of them. The receptionist just glanced at me, then continued working.

"Yes?" she asked.

"Um, is Drake here?"

"Yes."

"Can I see him?"

"What is your name?"

I paused, people were bound to have heard about me now.

"Tell him it's his winged friend."

She looked at me oddly.

"It's a joke, I'm sure he'll get it."

She smiled and nodded, giving me the number to his room and buzzing in on him. I walked away before I heard his response over the intercom. I walked up the stairs, for I still couldn't use the elevator, up to the third floor. I searched until I found room 329. "Drake?"

"Name requested." buzzed the door.

I looked at the door oddly, still not used to inanimate objects talking back to me.

"Uh, winged friend."

There was silence, then the door swung open, Drake pulling me in quickly, then closing and locking the door behind him.

"Angel!" he turned to me then stopped, "Where are your wings?"

I looked down, biting my tongue.

"I-" I began. I couldn't bring myself to say I had gotten bitten. I fingered my neck, touching the scars on my neck.

"Drake, I-I got bitten."

He froze, then I saw a knife in his hand, given to him by the frightened Jean.

"NO! I'm not going to bite you!"

"How do we know?" Jean asked, eying me up and down.

I paused, then looked down. "I've had the cure to push it away."

"Just like Marcus? Who betrayed us??" Jean growled, eyes narrowing.

"Uh, yeah. ." I glanced up to see both Jean and Drake backing away. I sighed, "I was hoping I could be trusted. I can see I'm not going to," I allowed my wings to become visible, "I'll just teach you to trust again." I looked at Drake, who's mouth was wide. "See what they did to me?!" I shouted suddenly full of rage, "They destroyed my wings! And they attacked and changed my sister! They still have her! And if I don't stop them they might kill her! How in the world would I join these beasts? How could I help them destroy this world? I'm not going to help them, I'm not going to give into this."

"You-you have a sister?" Drake managed.

"She's probably lying, Drake. Marcus lied to us, why shouldn't she?"

In one swift, quick movement, I had her against a wall, hand on her neck.

"Don't you ever say that! I've already lost my sister, I don't want to lose her again!" my eyes burned with tears, and I released Jean, collapsing to ground. Both stared warily at me as I cried, repeating Chloe's name. They seemed taken as off guard as I was with my sudden mood swings. I looked at my leathered wings, feeling the leather that replaced the white feathers I loved. I fingered the sharp teeth that had grown in.

"How could this have happened? I'm a monster now."

A clatter of metal caught my attention. I glanced over to see the knife in Drake's hand falling, and him walking towards me. He knelt down and kissed my forehead, "Don't lose hope, Angel, we can do this."

"We?" Jean growled, "Me and that monster?

I looked at Jean and got to my feet.

"Jean!" Drake growled, still kneeling where I used to be.

"She's right."

"What!?" Drake said, jumping up and grabbing my wrist.

"She's right. You two shouldn't be near me. I could snap any minute. I don't want to hurt either of you"-I glanced at Jean-"So I'll leave. I can't afford to lose someone else. Goodbye."

I turned and was at the door before either of them could think. The change was getting further. Drake's hand was still around an invisible wrist, his mouth wide. The wings on my back disappeared, and I walked out the door.

"Angel-" but Jean's voice was cut off by the door. I sighed and walked down the hall. But the same rage that entered me in Drake's room, entered me now. I became shaky.

No, I thought, I just had the cure! This can't be happening! I can't! I fell to the floor, screaming. I held my head, rocking back and forth. Must stay me, must stay me, I repeated childishly to myself. I got to my feet, continuing to hold my head. I glanced behind me to make sure no one was coming out, then I saw the beginning of my wings to appear. Sudden power flowed into me. I breathed in shaky breaths, walking forward quickly.

"Ma'am?"

I quickened my pace. Did he think the beginning of my wings were simply designs on tangled shirt?

"Hello, ma'am?"

"Leave her alone, human." said a dark voice. I whipped around, seeing a tall, black caped man holding the human up. I ran towards the vamp, desperately trying to stop him from biting this man. His eye turned to me, a beautiful blue. A grin spread across his face, and quickly he bit the man. Thrashing and screaming, the man desperately tried to get away, but it was useless. I stood there helpless, the throbbing in my head becoming worse and worse. Then he dropped the twitching body to the ground, wiping his deep red lips across his black sleeve. He walked towards me, or at least for a vamp. For a human he calmly ran towards me. He was suddenly by my side, his arms around my waist, supporting me. I tried to push away, but he held strong.

"Let me go!" I shouted, kicking.

"Shh, don't make me silence you."

"Help! I don't know this man!"

"I'm warning you, Queen."

"HELP-"

He hit me against the neck, my body falling limp. The last thing I saw was him dragging me towards a window.
