----

We reached the castle some time in the night, I wouldn't know because I was so tired I was seeing double of everything.
"Get out," Mara growled, a voice that I could barely comprehend because I could barely hear myself think. I blinked, trying to clear her face, and asked, "What?" completely oblivious that I was here to die. She came to me and pushed me out, causing me to stumble and pause in the darkness. No matter how hard I stared into the darkness, how many times I tried to clear my vision, it all stayed completely black. A hand came behind me and wrapped the chain around my arms, wrists, and legs. The same hand roughly pushed me forward as if I was supposed to be able to see. I spread my wings out to feel where things were, and I felt rows of trees by me.
"Can't you move?" Mara growled bitterly.
"It would help if I could see," I replied back, the same bitterness in my voice.
"Fine, follow me." she took my wrist, pushing the chain in a bit deeper, and dragged me along.
"Would I be able to sleep without getting my blood sucked?"
Mara laughed bitterly, "Tomorrow at noon we will be holding the ceremony, you will be up by that time."
"Yeah, yeah. Sure," I waved, yawning. Cheers reached my ears, filling them with the harsh, cold voices of other 'infected' people. The chains rattled as I walked the best I could, the cold steel reminding the cruel truth of what I was really here for.
As my eyesight came back to me, I started to make out the room I had just walked into. A large bed, draped in red and black veils, with a desk and chair in the corner. I would of stared at the view from the tower, but sleep was all too welcoming. I walked over to the bed, crawled under the covers, and passed out where I lay.

I had chains wrapped around my arms and legs, and I was presented to a large crowd. They all cheered. Mara came by my side and smiled at me, she turned to the crowd and raised her arms. All went quiet.
"I believe we all know why we're here," she said, "and with Angel we will destroy the human race, making this blasted world our own. With her as our own, she will corrupt the world for us." she turned to me, the throne room completely quiet. But behind her someone stepped silently near the throne.
"Are you sure you don't want to tell me that little secret of yours?" Mara whispered in my ear. A hand wrapped around my mouth, keeping it shut. Mara shook her head, oblivious to the hand and sighed, "I didn't think so."
Her lips parted and I felt the tips of her fangs on my neck, and I thrashed around, trying to scream out. It was over, they had me.

I jumped up in bed screaming. My body was covered in sweat, my heart pounding loudly in my ears. I looked around my room and felt my neck.
Nothing.
I sighed, it was only a dream. I still had a chance to tell Mara that her parents planned to kill her. Because she was my sister.

I sat up in my bed until the sun rose, shedding light into the castle. I watched as the sun rose, accompanied with reds, oranges, purples, and yellows. They blended together in perfect harmony that I wished for the world. How did my sister get bitten? Where had her wings gone? Why, why doesn't she remember me? Not even my name brings a flicker of her old self back. I thought back to the times we lived together, the times where we'd fly together, race and swim together. I smiled at the thought, how times were good. Then that one night, nearly five years ago, she said she heard something. She said it was calling her. I warned her not to leave the cave at night, it was dangerous, but she didn't listen. No matter what I tried she left anyway. She didn't come back. I wept my sister's loss, searching for her every day. After a year I gave up and forced myself not to remember. I wouldn't be in pain all my life if I couldn't remember. But here she is, here she is. Oh, how I wish I would've done something more during that night, so that she wouldn't be here today. None of this would've happened. I sighed and turned away from the sun rise. And they changed her name, I thought. Chloe was her name before. I smiled at her name.
"Chloe," I whispered. Such a pretty name.
"Who's Chloe?" A voice asked from beyond my thoughts. I looked up at my sister, and smiled, "You don't remember."
"Remember what?" she asked, confused.
"Your own name."
She stepped back, looking at me as if I was crazy.
"You aren't Mara. You weren't born a vampire. You were, and are, my sister. We grew up together, Chloe, remember? That night I had found you, I was filled with joy. But I couldn't bring you home with me. We'd both be killed."
I looked down, "I didn't want that for you. So I killed your adopted parents to keep you alive. Until I found out the whole kingdom was in on it. Once you bite me, they'll chain you up or kill you. Where did your wings go sister? What have they done to you?"
"Stop it! Stop it! I was born here! I've never had wings, never even know you before a few days ago! You're lying! I know you are!"
"Chloe, you're the same age as I am, eighteen. We lived together-"
"How did we survive, then? Who gave birth to us?"
"No one. God made us and taught us everything that we needed to survive."
"LIES!"
I sighed, Chloe was so stubborn sometimes. "Chloe-"
"Don't call me that!"
"I'm not going to call you Mara, so what else should I call you?"
"Queen." Chloe had a large smirk on her face, her arms crossed. I rolled my eyes, this isn't like Chloe, she hated the idea of being a Queen.
"Not going to call you that either. So Chloe it is."
"Fine, but get ready and get out of those nasty clothes. There's dresses in the closet, pick one and put it on. I'll be back at noon."
I sighed again, "You hated dresses too."
She turned and slapped me across the face. "Don't you dare say another word! Or I'll skip the ceremony and bite you right now!"
I felt the blood on my cheek, "What did they do to you Chloe? You used to be so gentle," I looked her up and down in the black suite she was wearing, "and loved life so much."
She knelt near my ear, "Chloe's no longer here. Now shut you bloody mouth and get dressed."
Then she turned and left, leaving me to morn over her death again.
