Bitten Wings 22

Next part. Kinda short. But I'm just trying to get stuff back up and runnin! ;)
Jean was leaning heavily against the wall.

"Angel...please..." her breath was shallow with fear. Her eyes wide, her shoulder bleeding. I grinned darkly at her, "Jean, you know what I think of you?"

She paused, inching towards the door. I was there before she made it to the handle. She screamed, backing up quickly.

"Angel, please!"

"Always cruel. Always saying the wrong things at the wrong time. Why, oh why, do I continue saving you?"

She glanced back at the approaching edge of the building. Two feet left. I chuckled. "You don't got much more room."

She looked up at me with fear filled eyes. "Angel-"

"Angel, Angel!" I mocked. "No one's here to save you now, Jean. No one." I took a step closer to her, my wings flicking open. She screamed, running to my left. I laughed, What was she thinking? Bloodlust rose up on me, and I decided to toy with her. I walked towards her, but to her, it was as if I was running. She ran quicker, turning, and heading towards the door. But I was in front of her, leaning against the door. Addere laughed with me.

"Now look, Jean. I'll make this as painless as possible. Just cock your head just slightly up-"

"NO ANGEL!" Jean ran at me, pushing me to the ground. She raised her fist, and, before I could think, brought it down on my jaw. It, however, didn't hurt. I crossed my arms behind my head and allowed her to hit me. What did it matter? It didn't hurt. Against my ribs, my jaw, eyes, stomach. Nope, nothing.

"Why...." she gasped, "doesn't it..." she brought her fist down against my right ribs, "hurt!?"

I picked her up by the chin, off the ground. She gasped and struggled.

"This little game has been fun, but...." I walked over to the edge of the building, holding her above it. I looked down, down to the people walking unknowingly below us. The hoverboards speeding past. In the building not far away, I could see people working tirelessly, backs turned towards me.

"I have tired of you." my hand unlocked her chin. She screamed. She reached. She grabbed hold of the ledge, gasping hard. I brought by foot down against her fingers, she screamed. My eyes turned hard and unloving. My wings unfolded and I laughed as I saw her let go. She fell to the ground. I turned away before I saw her hit the ground. I looked a Drake's unmoving body. It wasn't there anymore. I shrugged then turned to Addere.

"Did you make sure-"

"She couldn't've survived that. You know that."

He nodded simply, then held his hand out to me, "Come, my Queen."

I smiled darkly, walking to him, and taking his hand in mine. I opened my wings, and his unfolded from his back. They were nowhere as large and menacing as mine. His was a pale silver, while mine were dark black, the leather blood-red. We jumped off together. "You chose correctly." he whispered as we landed among the trees over the border. I grinned at him, my eyes flashing. "I know."

He smiled, and held his hand out towards the trees. "Shall we?"

I nodded, and walked forward. The palace awaited.

*

"Our Queen has returned!"

The crowds screamed, raising their hands in the air. Some jumped up and down with happiness.

"She has agreed to help us against the humans!"

Vampires grinned, their teeth flashing.

"We shall have a feast tonight, fire up the kitchens!"

Everyone rushed out, cooks turning right out the door, others left to get ready. I turned to my soon-to-be husband.

"I want to see my sister."

He looked at me with cautious eyes.

"Now." I growled.

He sighed, then shook his head. "After the feast."

"Will she be there?"

"No."

"WHY!?"

"Because. She is a-"

"Prisoner? She is my sister. I order her to be released."

"She remembers who she is."

"And you think I don't?"

He paused and looked at me. "You do?"

I grinned and laughed, "You thought I forgot? Well, vampires aren't as bright as I thought they were."

He raised his hand to slap me, but I gripped his wrist tightly, staring him in the eyes.

"Slap me, and I'll kill you."

He froze, then pulled his wrist out of my grip. "I still have authority here. I still hold your sister. Do what I say-"

"And I get her back? I agreed to come with you. I can simply turn around. You can't beat the humans when I'm on their side."

"You wouldn't fight with them when I kill her."

"I wouldn't fight with you either. I wouldn't even let you touch her."

He grinned, "We already have."

That was it. I snapped. I was suddenly upon him, and he was pinned against the brick wall. The dull grey held the shock of him pushed roughly against it.

"I should just kill you now. I'd end this war. I'd end everyone's pain."

"You-you agreed to help us!"

"I could turn around and not. Just like that. Just say the word and I-"

"GUARDS!"

Suddenly there were other vampires in the room, tazers in their hands, some holding spears.

"Drop the King."

"Give my sister back, and I'll drop your precious King." I glared Addere in the eyes. "You know I could and would kill you." I whispered loud enough so only he could hear. He glared at me back, but could do nothing. My grip against him was too tight.

"DO IT NOW!" I shouted in his ears. He winced then nodded to the guards. Then moved slowly out, then ran to go get my sister. I released Addere. He slapped me hard against the cheek, his nails cutting it open. Here, with vampires surrounding me, I could actually get hurt. I winced, and it was his turn to push me against the wall. I was suddenly filled with fear not able to move. Not able to stop him from hurting my sister.

He leaned next to my ear, "I could kill you just as simply. You don't know all you can do. You don't know how to control yourself. You don't know anything." I looked at him with narrowed eyes. "Off. Now."

He chuckled, grinning at me. "I think I've got a punishment for you. Each time you do this, I bite you."

"What will that do, jerk!?"

"Puts more poison in your bloodstream. Makes you start to forget. Makes you one of us."

My face fell, my sister's young face appearing in my mind's eyes. "No.." I breathed finally. He grinned darkly, his fangs catching the light. "You know I will."

"I WON'T LET YOU!" I squirmed in his arms, kicking him in the ribs. He winced and pulled back. He looked at me and grinned. "A bit doesn't have to be on your neck. It can be anywhere. Your arm, hand, finger..."

"Stop it, stop it!" I winced as a headache ragged through my body.

"You agreed to help us. You killed your friend-"

"Not a friend."

"You cared for her."

"I care for everyone. But not you."

He laughed, "Well, Angel. I feel hurt. But you did these things, why do you continue to fight me?"

"I don't want to forget my own sister." I withheld any other information.

"Of course. It's always your sister. Why didn't you come for her?"

"I knew they'd kill her if I tried to save her. She was bitten. She didn't remember me. If she grew up that way, she wouldn't be harmed."

"You didn't even try."

My eyes burned with unseen tears. I chocked on the next words, "You..you don't know anything."

He smiled darkly and shrugged. "I know you. And your sister."

Then they brought her in. My sister.
