Birthday Thank You Notes

Sending birthday thank you notes to someone, means a lot to that person and it also reflects a lot about the personality of the sender of the note. If you want to learn how to write a thank you note for all your birthday gifts, then you have come to the right page. Just read on.
The person who has selected your birthday gift, had to go through a lot of hard work; they had to find out what you need the most for your birthday, what you will really like, where will they get that thing, how to send it to you if they are staying somewhere far off and so on. In return all they expect is a little bit of gratitude. This you can express by writing to that person, a small birthday thank you note, by hand and not through email. This small gesture on your part, would mean a lot to the sender. It's your responsibility as an adult to teach your kids to write birthday thank you notes for all the gifts that they receive. This only makes them 'well mannered child' in the eyes of other people. So teach them what to write in a thank you card.

Learn to Write a Thank You Note

Cheerful Greetings: People, as Dale Carnegie has pointed out, love to read or see their names in print. It's my best moment when I receive a letter with my own name on it, no matter whether the letter just consists of some unnecessary notices. Thus, writing the greeting, mainly a cheerful greeting is important. You can start with Hey Paul, if the sender is your friend or maybe My Dearest Granny, if the sender is your kid's grandmother. It means a lot to the sender to receive a note addressed like this.

Expression of Gratitude: In the next paragraph show how grateful you are to the sender for sending the gift to you or your kid. This is the most difficult part as you have to really mean it. If you are just writing because you have to, then, it will show through the words that you ink on the paper. Always remember to use the present perfect tense, which shows that whatever you are writing , is occurring just then. It should sound as if you have just opened the gift and you are expressing your feelings in the letter.

Keep one point in mind though. If the sender has given you or your kid some cash, then do not mention the amount in the note. Just say 'thank you for your kindness ' or 'thank you so much for your generosity'. Keep it simple, but mean it.

Mention of What Use the Gift Will be to You: Write to the sender, how you will use the gift. If your gift is a coffee mug, tell them that how you will drink coffee every morning from now onwards in that cup, or how you were not able to drink coffee all these days as your cup had broken, but now with the cup, you will be able to have it. But please do not lie. If you do not like the gift, try to find out at least one thing which you like about it, and write about that. But do not go overboard. If the gift is money, then write how you plan to use it, but not in details.

The Past and the Future: Mention the past like 'it was so great to see the sender at the party' and also mention future such as, 'hope to meet you again in (a future party)'. Show the person that they are a part of your life.

A Graceful Goodbye: While ending the notes, do not forget to say thank you again for the gift. It won't hurt you to do that again, will it? So mention thank you again before you sign off.

Dear Ron,

I really don't know how to thank you for the coffee mug that you gave me for my 20th birthday. It meant a lot to me. My own coffee mug broke only a few days back and I had to go without coffee because of that. But now, thanks to you, I will be able to drink coffee again. It also looks like my previous cup which was my favorite. So thank you for knowing my choice. It was really great to see you at the party that day. 20th of this month is my parent's 25th wedding anniversary and we have arranged a party for them. Hope to see you there. Thank you again for the gift.

Love,
Harry

Dear Granny,

Thank you so much for the beige colored jacket that you gave me for my 16th birthday. I loved it and so did my friends. I wear it everyday when I walk down to school and it really keeps me warm and cozy. I had always wanted a jacket of this color, but I could never find one. The jacket means a lot to me. I am sorry that you could not come for the party, but do try to come for Daniel's 6th birthday party Granny. It's this Sunday. Hope to see you then. Thank you again for the jacket.

Love,
Heidi

Thank You Notes Wordings

One usually writes to thank the guests for coming to your party. They should be short and polite. Here are some samples. Just follow them to write a good note.

Dear Helen,

A small thank you note is not enough to tell you how grateful I am to you for coming my birthday party. It really meant a lot to me. I would also like to thank you for the wonderful gift you gave me (box of my favorite chocolates). How did you know that they were my favorites? Hope to see you at Aunt Gwen's party this Sunday. Thank you again for the gift and for coming to the party.

Love,
Maria

Dear Susan,

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the surprise birthday party you had arranged for me. It was more than what I had expected. It was so good to see my old friends again at the party. Also the ring that you gave me, is great. Thank you again for the party.

Love,
Tylor

I am sure there are many websites which send e-cards to your friends and families. But, trust me, there is more joy in receiving a handwritten card than an e-card. So, take out that pen and paper and start writing your notes to all those who had come to the party, and all those who had given you gifts. The love and respect that you will get in return, will make you feel great.
