Birds Dying in Arkansas

The recent incident of birds dying in Arkansas - with no possible explanation in sight, has put the entire world in a dilemma. Join us as we carry out a critical evaluation of all the speculations that are being put forth as the causes of mass deaths of the birds and fish.
While 2010 will be remembered by the residents of Arkansas for devastating floods which swept across the state, year 2011 has not been any good either. This time around, however, the reason is not some natural disaster, but an unexplainable phenomenon wherein thousands of birds have been found dead on streets and rooftops in Beebe city in the state. While many people are coming up with some or the other theories about the same - quite a few of which are related to the end of the world as well, none of these theories seem to be concrete enough to unravel the mystery of birds dying in Arkansas. More importantly, the death of fish in large numbers in Arkansas and the fact that similar occurrences have been recorded from other parts of the world as well has also added to the mystery quotient of the entire incident.

Birds Dying in Arkansas

For the residents of Beebe city of Arkansas, United States of America, the New Year began with the mysterious mass deaths of thousands of Red-winged Blackbirds which were found lying all over the streets and rooftops within a radius of one mile. Even though the unusual event had no logical explanation supporting it, the autopsy reports of these birds did put forth some speculations. Even before any concrete reason had been established, several news channels aired the news of birds falling dead from the sky with explanations of their own. The gullible masses were not left far behind in terms of possible explanations, with many people claiming that this was a sign of apocalypse 2012.

The entire incident has resulted in coining of a new term - aflockalypse, which is believed to be a prelude of apocalypse to befall on mankind. Adding fuel to the fire was the death of thousands of drum fish species in Arkansas. Naturally both the incidents were linked to each other, and that made the idea of these mass deaths of animals being a sign of the approaching 2012 disaster even more concrete. With no possible explanations as to why are birds and fish dying in sight, the phenomenon became even more mysterious within a week's time. Adding to the popularity of the incident of birds dying in Arkansas was the fact that similar incidents were reported from other parts of the world - including countries like Italy, Sweden, England, Brazil, New Zealand, etc. Interestingly, each of these regions had a different species of birds and fish dying.

Why are Birds Dying?

As of now there is no concrete evidence to say why are birds dying in Arkansas, or any other part of the world for that matter. What we do have are some theories about these mass deaths of these animal species all over the world. Some of the most popular theories include apocalypse (leading the pack), cold weather, fireworks, weapons testing, crashing into aircraft, lightning, etc. Sadly though, none of these theories seem to be promising enough. Even though apocalypse and weapons testing seem to be the favorite theories when it comes to some unexplainable phenomena, critical thinking rules them out in the very beginning of evaluation. At the same time, it is impossible for thousands of birds to crash into aircraft in various parts of the world at the same time. If we take fireworks into consideration, we should have had witnessed such occurrences before as well. If it was lightning, there would have been some evidence of burns on the dead bodies.

The chances of some disease cannot be ruled out, but which is this disease which has affected so many species of birds and fish in different parts of the world? Extreme cold does seem logical, but we have seen even colder times in the past without any such occurrence being reported. With quite a few environmental issues at their peak, the theory of poisoning does seem to be true. It is also backed by the autopsy reports of these birds which reveal that their mouths had turned pale blue after they died. But how can some poison affect millions of birds at the same time in different parts of the world is one question which needs to be given a serious thought. The autopsy reports also suggest blunt trauma, but there is no evidence of these birds hitting something in midair. So can this trauma be attributed to the birds dashing into the ground? Then you are left wondering what made these birds dash into the ground? With so many questions left unanswered it is difficult to come to an explanation for this occurrence.

The phenomenon - which started with thousands of birds dying in Arkansas and eventually spread to various other parts of the world, seems to have left the entire world bewildered. But just because there is no explanation about this mass death of animals available as of today, we can't (or shouldn't) attribute it to some supernatural force. Sooner or later we will have all the answers at our disposal. Though not actually related, at one time it was a popular belief that lemmings jump into the river and commit mass suicide. With time it was revealed that mass suicide of lemmings was just a myth, and these rodents - with the ability to swim, actually drowned into the river when they attempted to cross it in the course of their migration.
