Bipolar Relationships
Dealing with people who have bipolar disorder is tough, and having a relationship with them is even tougher. Difficult as it is, there are certain things that you need to know about if you really want to make it work or otherwise.

Being With a Bipolar Partner
Common Problems
Well for starters, it can be extremely difficult to deal with the constant mood-swings of a bipolar person. Such a person will show extreme depression and anger which can really be very difficult to deal with. People with the disorder may get suddenly roused over issues which you may feel are of trivial importance. At the same time, it can be pretty difficult to keep such a person happy. And the inability to keep the person you love happy can be depressive for the other person in the relationship.
Secondly, there may even be issues related to alcoholism and anger. While this point is merely speculative, it is not beyond the normal realm of imagination to assume that a person who is extremely depressive may take to the bottle very easily. We have sufficient proof that sad and unhappy people are more prone to alcoholism. So such issues may arise as well.
Thirdly, and excuse me for putting in this seemingly materialistic point in here, relationship with someone with bipolar disorder may not always be financially sustainable. It is said that a person with the disorder rarely lasts too long in a job and frequently faces changes in jobs. So there is a good chance that a person with a bipolar disorder may face financial problems and cash crunches quite often.
Relationship Advice
Yes, it is hard to deal with a person with a bipolar disorder. Yes it can lead to several problems in the future. But are you still willing to see this relationship through? Because it is a decision you cannot afford to delay. Because the longer you stick around with it, the harder it will be to break it off.
The one advice I can give you is that you will have to be very patient. Few people are patient enough to be able to make such a relationship successful. But bipolar people need a lot of care, love and patience.
The second thing that they need is medication and help. Most people suffering know and are very aware that they have this problem, but are unwilling to talk about it or seek help. But if you really love the person you're in a relationship with you will continue to press the topic of trying to get it fixed. Its hard to say for sure if your loved one will be cured, but the chances are quite high that with the necessary medication, love and help, the intensity of the problem will most certainly be reduced.
It is hard to make such a relationship successful, but then again, there are people who believe in sticking with it and trying to bring about a change in the life of someone. So it is up to you to decide. Are you one of them?
