Selena Gomez was born on July 22, 1992, in Grand Prairie, Texas. She is the only child of Ricardo Gomez and Mandy Cornett. Mandy Cornett was a versatile stage actress herself. She gave birth to Selena when she was just 16. By the time Selena was five, Ricardo and Mandy parted ways. Selena was named after the Tejano music singer by the same name.
