Biography of Elisha Cuthbert
Elisha Cuthbert is one of the few Hollywood stars to successfully retain her childhood glamor. Read on to know more about this blonde beauty.
It was not long after that, that she made her first television appearance, as an extra, in a Canadian anthology series 'Are You Afraid of The Dark?'. She also co-hosted the 'Popular Machines for Kids' show, which was shot in Montreal, Canada. In this show she did field reporting that impressed the then-First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. She was hence invited to Washington for a meeting. Later on, Elisha got used to the limelight. She was handed her first feature film role, in the family drama 'Dancing on the Moon', in 1997. She also did some of the Canadian movies, like - 'Mail to the Chief', 'Airspeed', 'Believe', 'Nico, the Unicorn', 'Time at the Top' etc. She also featured in the Canadian Television movie 'Lucky girl', that won her a Gemini Award in 2001.
At the age of 17, she moved to Los Angeles, California to concentrate more on her acting. Her parents gave her a deadline of 6 weeks. At the end of the 5th week she was offered the role of 'Kimberly Bauer', daughter of agent Jack Bauer, in the series '24', for Fox TV. She appeared in its first three seasons and made guest appearances in two episodes of fifth season and five episodes of the seventh season. She began her Hollywood career by doing small roles in the films like 'Love actually' and 'Old School'. She also gave auditions for the role of 'Mary Jane Watson' in Spider-man, which later on went to Kirsten Dunst. Elisha's next was a bold venture, 'The Girl Next Door', in which she played an ex-porn star. She did a lot of research for her character, like interaction with the actual adult actresses. The film received a lot of criticism as well as praise. Her next big-screen appearance was the remake of the classic horror movie 'House of Wax'; the film didn't do well but Elisha was praised for her character of 'Carly Jones'.
Her next project was an independent film 'The Quiet', which she actually co-produced. She played the challenging role of a sexually abused teenager 'Tina'. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, 2005. Elisha also appeared in some music videos, including 'Perfect Situation' by American Rock band Weezer and Paris Hilton's 'Nothing in this World'. In 2007, she appeared in the thriller 'Captivity' in which she played the central character of a super model. For this, she was nominated for the 'Razzie Award' for the Worst Actress. She also played a quadriplegic in the limited release film, 'He Was A Quiet Man'.
In 2008, she appeared in a Korean film remake, 'My Sassy Girl'. She also appeared as a guest judge in the second season of the series 'Runaway Canada'. In her upcoming projects, she is playing the daughter of actor 'Tim Allen' in a comedy 'The Six Wives of Henry Lefay'. In 'Cat Tale', which is under progress, she is giving a voice-over to 'the feline daughter of a wealthy kitty litter baron'. It is also official that she will be appearing in the eighth season of the series '24'.
Elisha speaks French. She loves painting, visiting beaches and playing ice-hockey. She is also a season-ticket holder for the 'Los Angeles Kings'. She has her own blog on NHL.com named 'Hollywood Hockey Thoughts'. She hates flying and does it only because she must. Out of superstition, she always boards the plane with her right foot first. Elisha Cuthbert has frequently appeared in annual "hottest women" lists, of magazines like 'Maxim' and 'FHM's' since 2003. Her highest ranking in FHM's UK Edition was of 4 in 2008. Her highest ranking in Maxim was number 8 in 2008. She was also ranked 10th on AskMen.com's list of 'Top 99 Women of 2007'. She also features in the 'Girls of Maxim' Gallery.
She was once romantically involved with Sean Avery, the then Los Angeles Kings player. And she is now dating the Calgary Flames player, Dion Phaneuf. She continues to live in Los Angeles, California.
In such a short career, she has tried different genres of films and this shows her versatility. Without any prior film connection or godfather, this promising actress has come a long way, with a lot more still, to prove. Let's hope that she makes the expectations of her fans come to reality!
