Ashlee Simpson is a multi-talented personality. She is a singer, composer and actress. She is the younger sister of the famous American singer and actress Jessica Simpson. She shot into fame in mid-2004 when she was barely twenty years of age. She made her debut as a singer with the album Autobiography. Her reality series The Ashlee Simpson Show, was an extremely popular TV show.

Ashlee Nicole Simpson was born to Joe and Tina Simpson on October 3, 1984. She was born in Waco, Texas, but was brought up in Dallas. Since her early childhood days, she was very much interested in dancing and acting. At a tender age of three, when children of her age learn to run, Ashlee started dancing. She took admission at the highly reputed School of American Ballet when she was just eleven years old. She was the youngest of all students enrolled in the history of the school. Young age never became a hindrance for Ashlee and she learned all her lessons with utmost sincerity.

By the time Ashlee reached the age of fourteen, she mastered all the skills required for good dancing. Thus, she took up dancing as a profession at a very early age. In the later part of the 1990s, when Jessica became famous, Ashlee shared stage with her in her musical shows. She was meant to be a star in her own rights. She made her solo appearance on television for the first time in 2001, on popular the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle. In 2002, she took up the character of Cecilia Smith, girlfriend of Simon Camden in the family drama series 7th Heaven on WB TV. She appeared in 39 episodes of the drama in between 2002 - 04. While playing this role, she took some training from well-known acting coach Janet Alhanti. Alongside her acting career, she began to focus on her singing career too. She recorded songs like "Just Let Me Cry" for the soundtrack of the film Freaky Friday.

Ashlee signed a contract for her first musical album with Geffen Records in late 2003. The Ashlee Simpson Show was aired for the first time on MTV in the US on June 16, 2004. The show consisted of 8 episodes of half-an-hour each and was based on the making of Ashlee's upcoming debut album. The show became very successful and it gave Ashlee the recognition needed to establish herself as a singer. Her debut album, Autobiography, came out on July 20, 2004 and became number one at that time in terms of sales. The single number "Pieces of Me" was a huge hit not only in the US but also in several other countries of the world. Her second album, I Am Me, released in October 2005, also debuted as number one in sales. Her third album Bittersweet World was released in April 2008.

Ashlee Simpson got married to boyfriend Pete Wentz on May 17, 2008. Pete Wentz, who is a bassist / lyricist of the band Fall Out Boy, and Ashlee dated each other for more than one year before taking the vows. Post marriage, Ashlee changed her name to Ashlee Wentz and kept her stage name as Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. The couple welcomed their first child, Bronx Mowgli Wentz on November 20, 2008.

Despite being the sister of a famous celebrity singer, Ashlee never kept herself in the shadow of Jessica and managed to carve a niche for herself. She made conscious effort to maintain an image different from her sibling in terms of style statement, singing as well as personality. Ashlee's style of singing and her personality has made her immensely popular not only in America but all over the world. And we can be sure that her voice and talent will continue to mesmerize people for many more years to come.
