Bill's Adventure in Mexico - A True Story.

Why it's vital to purchase quality auto insurance for Mexico
Being in an automobile accident in Mexico is a far more serious situation than having an accident at home-especially for a visiting American, as Mr. Bill Kitto readily tells us. Bill published his first-hand account of his accident and his subsequent week in the hands of the Mexican authorities in an effort to ensure all Americans driving in Mexico go prepared with all the essentials.

Mexican car insurance is an important resource to possess, for reasons that become obvious as you browse his true story. Additionally, this was not the first time Mr. K. traveled to Mexico when he was involved in an accident in Southern Mexico, as he was driving a truck that belonged to his friend.

Bill was at the wheel of the truck, as he was an impeccable driver who knew how to maneuver with the road conditions that were becoming unbearable due to a mounting rainstorm. This left him relying on his friend's Mexico insurance.

Bill and his friend were riding at a careful 30 KPH, but as they turned a corner, they were faced with the Mexican Federal military truck darting towards them - slightly on their side of the road. Without enough time to prevent a collision, the two vehicles crashed head-on left, causing the other vehicle to skid down an embankment. Bill and his friend made contact with the wall located on the opposite side of the road.

Within minutes, the Mexican police arrive and one speeds an injured Bill away to a location unknown to him or his companion who is left standing roadside. In Mexico, there is no 'innocent until proven guilty' - exactly the opposite.

Bill is taken to a Mexican detention jail cell and doesn't have access to contact anyone. He has no idea what is going to happen to him. At this point, he doesn't even know if his friend was carrying any Mexico auto insurance.

Hours later, guards return to take him back to the accident scene where he is at least able to reunite with his friend and his friend's Mexican car insurance policy. In the U.S., this might mean problem solved, but in Mexico, there is much more to go through.

The whole story is lengthier, more detailed and more than a little uncomfortable for Bill. During a week in the hospital, Bill tried very hard to make sure his injuries would keep him out of the Mexican jail. With legal representatives that had low ethics and technology that was a muddled mess, Bill was at the mercy of the local authorities and paying his way out seemed futile.

Bill often thought that there would be no way to end this nightmare and questioned if he could even afford to put this incident past him. Finally, he once again is a free man, but only after spending more than $28,000. Lucky for him, he was in a position to gather up the funds to pay for his freedom, but sadly, many other Americans are unable to raise this kind of money.

Because of the mountains of red tape and the corrupt officials he dealt with, Bill is not sure if he will ever see any of his money back. Using the lessons he learned from his experience, Bill works to educate Americans planning to travel in Mexico.

Be sure to have a cell phone or satellite phone on you at all times and learn the dialing codes in Mexico.

Remain in contact with family in the states that can help you secure funds if needed and contact Mexican insurance companies as needed (because your ability will be limited)

And above all else-

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE MEXICAN AUTO INSURANCE-with very good coverage and limits to cover all personal injury and property damage.

Make sure the Mexican car insurance is from a reputable company.

Always carry proof of Mexican Insurance in your car, which is easy to reach whenever needed! (Also if you are separated from your car, don't forget to carry your Mexico car insurance ID cards)

Mr. Kitto's drawn-out and exhausting dilemma has proved one thing to him- money is what makes Mexican legalities disappear. Over there, they don't care where the money originates, but only if you can pay the bill. Innocence plays a small role in these situations and it can mean the difference between receiving your freedom and losing your rights.

Most people can only dream of having $30,000 plus readily available to them, so it is best to have very good Mexican car insurance to and adequate limits protect yourself.
