Billiards games are played on a felt-covered rectangular table surrounded by rubber rails. In carom billiards, a stick is used to hit a white cue ball against one or two red balls on a table with no pockets. In pocket billiards, also known as pool, a stick is used to hit the cue ball against any of 15 numbered object balls in an effort to knock them into one of six pockets.
