Nicolette's P.O.V

When I woke up, I found myself staring at the ceiling. My body had stopped burning as much as it did. As I stood up, I wondered to myself how long I had slept for. I walked towards the door and tried to open it, but somehow it was locked. I still felt tired and a bit weak, yet somehow stronger than usual. The door didn't move much of a budge. I banged the door a couple of times before I felt annoyed slightly annoyed and I kicked at door once. Nothing happened so I started to walk back to the bed. As if on cue, the door opened and Luke was standing there staring at me. "What's with the big tantrum?" He demanded. I knew I had a right to be angry at, so I almost spazzed out, but I let it be when I remembered what I had to do that was more important that when I had to say at the time. "Luke..." I began slowly, thinking about my words. "Luke...how long have I been asleep?" I asked first. He shrugged. "I think you slept for just under two days." He replied. I felt myself getting annoyed at myself.

Anything could have happened in the less than a day... "Did the war start yet?" I asked wearily. He smiled a cold smile before speaking. "Maybe, maybe not. I don't think you need to know." He replied "Where's Cresen?" I asked again. Luke just rolled his eyes. "What are you trying to get at Natasha?" He demanded. He stopped speaking for a moment when he realized at what he said. I was silent as well. It was the first time he called me by that, but the thing was I wasn't even sure if I was that girl who apparently was with him before. "Am I really a girl from your past?" I managed to say. Luke was unreadable right then and for a long moment, I thought he was going to leave me be. "Yes." He replied almost in a whisper. "Everything about you and your soul seemed connected to hers." He said softly. "That's why I didn't want to lose you again..." Trailed off Luke. I felt as if my brain clicked somehow and there was a flashback in memory if that was possible. As if my brain was showing me an image of my past before this life...

It started to show me how my parents in the past life had died and then it ended with me in the vampire realm. That flashback seemed to take five minutes, but it was less than a minute. Luke was staring curiously at me; the look in his eyes was tried and sad? "Are you okay?" He asked as he walked towards me. I was still slightly dazed at what happened and when he touched my arm, every part of my skin got goose bumps. Then there was this flash, but this time everything around me changed. I looked towards Luke as well and thought he was doing all this, but he was not. He had a confused look on his face too. We like a ghost viewing something, because what happened next was so familiar and so scary.

It was like the dream I had, the dream about possibly me dying. I don't know why, but this terrible feeling in my stomach made me sure it was the past me. I watched standing beside Luke, the last moments of the scene. It was somehow a big more of a younger version of Cresen and he was surrounding with a pack of creatures (the same ones from my dream). There was a small girl and a small boy in front of her holding his hands out as if to protect her from something. "Common Luke, you made a death promise to me, while this girl had broken it..." He trailed off with an evil smile, looking at the small girl now. "No...please Natasha don't go..." Said the small boy turning to the girl. "I'm afraid it's too late now." Said the girl wearily. Cresen gave a wicked smirk as the vicious creatures lunged at her.

The boy tried to intercept, but Cresen grabbed him to keep him a hold. I also noticed that the gate was still opening and that there was a stray arrow of a sort that flew and hit Cresen. Apparently the arrow was deadly enough to kill a vampire.
In the end, the boy managed to get away and towards the girl who was laying there, breathing heavily. The creatures where gone and now all there was left was the boy and the girl. "Don't die..." Trailed off the boy sobbing. The girl gave a brave smile before weakly speaking. "It's okay..." She hushed him. "But before I go, I must tell you one thing. I found out that vampires don't die, they will eventually come back." She whispered. Then the light from her eyes faded into dullness.

I shuddered as that happened, thinking that was probably me... I felt a warm hand grab me and spin me around. It was Luke. His eyes seemed to emotionless, but somehow it turned into great sorrow for a moment. He pulled me closer and I felt my heart leap.
"You don't know how long...You don't know how long I have been miserable without you..." He struggled to say. "I told you that I didn't want to lose you and I won't." Stated Luke with a hungry look. "But Luke...it's not like it. If I lose my own world and if the sorcerers and humans lose the war, then I will be nothing. You would lose me all over again, I won't be the same." I said softly, my eyes staring to brim with a bit of tears. "Just as the old you would say." He mumbled, as he took a strand of my hair that was on my face and tucked it behind my ears. "I...I...I won't let it happen, whatever you want, it's something I owe you." He continued as he pressed his lips against mine.

Somehow I felt relieved and safe with him as there was another flash. I didn't notice it because we were still kissing. That kiss was so different from the rest, it was warmth and joy and everything you would feel when you yearned for someone who you hadn't seen for a long time. But this was the first kiss that was with my Luke. My true friend and lover, the same one from when we were kids. I felt as if my world was spinning, except there was a harsh voice that entered. "Well, well, well. What do we have here? Two lovebirds really?" Asked Cresen starting at us. I pulled apart and Luke just stared at him. Katrina was behind him with a evil smile as well. "You know, I thought something was up, you didn't act the same as you did before, so I decided to tell Cresen." She said. "And you know what, he decided to lay me in charge instead." She stated. "We won't let two lovebirds stop them will me?"

Asked Cresen and a few more vampires came from behind them. Cresen was also looking at someone, not at Luke not at me at? I turned around and immediately I felt a strong pain in the ribs. Although I think I was stronger than before, which I think I had an explanation for that (it was the creature I feared being the most), I was still weaker then I should be. I fell down in pain, but I managed not to cry. Rough arms grabbed me and yanked me by my hair. "Well done Jack." Said Katrina with a big smile. "What? Jack?" I mumbled before struggling to get up. I saw Luke gritting his teeth. We were in fact trapped and I thought my best friend had betrayed me.

"How could you?" I managed. He pulled my hair back and I screamed I pain. "You know why? I'm tired of this, I want in. Look around we're losing the war, might as well join the winning side. If you can't beat them join them." Said Jack in a dark voice, but somehow I could see through it. Was this a joke or was it real? I saw Luke being held down by other vampires as well. "Kill them." Hissed Cresen finally as other vampires came from behind him. There were so many troops of vampires, I felt as if we already lost the war... So I guess this was it...we're going to die together.

Of course there was always the element of surprise. The window above shattered and a couple of sorcerers came. It didn't seem like enough, but more seemed to come in by the minute. Soon enough, there was enough to out match the vampires. I felt my hair being let go and smiling at me. "How did we do Nicolette?" Asked Jack. I rubbed my head in a groan. "Well for starters, you almost got me for good." I replied. "How did you do it? Like how did you manage?" I asked. He just winked at me. "I'll tell you later. Right now we fight." He said. Cresen seemed furious, but at the same time, not very surprised. "Attack, kill them!" He commaned the vampires. Katrina seemed confused, as if she snapped out of a trance or something. The battle seemed to start in slow motion, everyone was fighting. I managed to kill one vampire with my powers, which was still dull from lack of energy I had.

Unfortunately, nobody noticed too much what Cresen was doing, except during the end. I felt a cold hand on my mouth and as I tried to use my powers again, it was defected at the moment. It was Jack and Luke who noticed Cresen and me. I watched helplessly, as Luke and Jack whispered to each other and Jack started to charge of the other vampires they were fighting. Cresen dragged me out of the room where everyone was fighting and into a different hall. Somehow I could see Luke trailing along and then something hit my mind. It was a trap! I managed to dig my elbow into Cresen's stomach, and he was caught be surprise a little. So he fumbled me and I managed to get away for only a moment and scream. "LUKE DON'T COME FOR ME! IT'S A TR-..." I trailed off as Cresen slammed to the wall. "You might be able to come back alive after I kill you, but I will make sure you won't..." He snarled into my ear.

I wasn't sure what happened next because it was all too fast. I felt an exploding pain everywhere, 10 times worse than the things I had endured so far. I clenched my jaw, trying not to scream, but it was harder said then done. It was then that I heard Luke's voice. "Hey didn't I tell you that I won't let you die?" Asked Luke softly. I managed a smile before looking warily towards Cresen. He was standing a few meters away and growling. Luke stood in front of me like the flashback I've seen. In a matter of minutes, they started to fight leaving me to watch. At first Luke seemed to be winning, but Cresen was stronger than he looked, plus he had more experience. Luke was pinned on the ground and Cresen was going to make a kill, when I screamed. "NO!!!"I screamed. Summoning every ounce of my energy, I concentrated on my powers and what happened next felt like a daze to me now. The windows in this hall blasted open suddenly and I felt a chill of wind coming. This wind was different though, it had enough strength to knock Cresen down before swirling around him. I knew it wasn't going to hold for long, but thankfully, Jack came in this mist of time and aimed a deadly looking bow at him and shot it. It struck in the same place it did the last time he died.

He was taken slightly in surprise. "I'll get you next time..." He growled as the wind suddenly died down and came to a stop. Cresen wasn't there, and at first I thought he disappeared, but later it was Luke who told me the wind carried his death along with him. It didn't make any sense to me, but I didn't really care. I felt my eyes closing, but I refused to let it do so, not yet. I had to make sure the war had stopped. Jack walked towards Luke first and gave him a hand before walking towards me. "You did good kiddo..." He trailed off. "Don't worry, I think Luke has the rest of the problems trailed off right." He said giving a glance towards him. Luke smiled before nodding. "Yeah I do, but you also have to seal the gate once and for all. The only person who can do it is me or Nicolette, along with one of the top sorcerers. Jack nodded. "Yeah, I will get onto that immediately." He said. "Wait, why only me or you?" I asked. "It's because only the royal bloods can fully control the gate." Replied Luke. "Wait, I am not royal..." I trailed off. "Yes you are. I marked you and you know what you are now." He said. I felt saddened as I remembered the legend. Maybe all of it didn't have to be true...
----------------------------------------------------------
It had been a day since the war had been settled. A lot of things where in ruins, yet I am sure, the humans hadn't thought of it as too bad. I don't even think they realized what was happening. I was pretty sure that they are looking for a reasonable explanation to what happened as usual. I had seen my father and guess what? Since they are locking the worlds between the vampire realm and the human realm, I decided to stay with my family and not to be selfish. Beside I couldn't care less now that Luke and ally my friends were with me. Luke had agreed to stay with me in the human world instead and guess who might have been the legend after all? Katrina, yeah you heard me. Apparently, she was under the spell of Cresen while she was serving Luke. Yet she still wanted to stay in the other world, which was fine by us. She was granted the power of being in charge and the good thing is we'll never hopefully have to see Cresen again. Lastly, since me and Luke live pretty much forever, we will keep an eye on the gate in case anything else happens.
I also found out something from another legend. It talks about soulmates and stuff like that...I think I'm
Luke's.

The end or is it?
