Beyond the Woods - Chapter Nine
A night to remember.... until someone tries to rape you.
Chapter Nine
As my eyes opened, the first thing I saw was Christian’s handsome angel like face. His eyes were closed and his breathing was steady. So I guess he was still in a sleep. I glanced around my room trying to find a clue of what happened last night. Then it all came pouring back into me, Nick Jones tried to rape me but Christian saved me. No matter where life took us, I would always be grateful for him saving me last night. My life would never have been the same if he didn’t and it still probably won’t even though he did.
I tried stretching my arms a little then I felt the stiffness in my body and accidentally groaned. Immediately Christian’s eyes fluttered open and looked at me with concern. "Are you alright?" He asked.
Finally I said the first words since screaming to Nick last night, "Yes, a little sore and worn out but I’ll be okay."
"Ava, I am so sorry -," I cut him off.
"It wasn’t your fault. But thank you Christian, you saved me." I looked down and noticed the position we were in and awkwardly got up off the bed. It broke my heart to move even a short distance away from him but I needed to shower off all the pain of last night.
"Sorry, I’ll leave," Christian said while heading towards the door.
"Wait," I ran over to him and clasped his hand.
"Don’t go too far." He leaned towards me and for sure I thought I was about to receive a kiss, but instead he pulled back.
"I will always be waiting," he said before slipping behind my door and leaving me alone in my room. I was falling hard for this man. Everything about him appealed to me and drew me in wanting more. This is going to be one hell of a journey I thought.
After soaking in the tub for a good hour, I got out and began the hunt for some clothes. I found my favorite pair of old sweat pants and a white V-neck shirt. Next I picked up the sheet I had slept in last night while Christian held me. Just looking at the thing brought back the horrific memories of last night’s events. So, I threw it away in my trashcan. Not knowing what to do next, I curled up in my bed and turned on the TV. An old sitcom was on but instead of watching it, I let my mind drift.
"Ava darling may I come in?" I heard my mom say from behind the door.
"Yes." My mom entered my room then took a seat on the corner of my bed.
"Honey, I am so sorry about everything that happened last night. I couldn’t imagine the thought of losing you or what you went through. I know that we don’t always see eye to eye but you should know that I always love you."
"I know mom, thank you." I said.
"What a knight in shining armor Christian is, don’t you think?"
"Yes, he is," I said which overjoyed my mother and gave her the satisfaction that she needed.
"I am happy for you dear." Happy about what? It’s not like Christian and I are a thing, yet. "I know you need some time to get over things but when you are ready I would like you to come down and eat. You need food in that fragile body of yours. Then dear, there is something that your father and I have to tell you."
"Tell me what mom?" I asked.
"Don’t worry about it now just rest up some more, and then come down when you’re ready."
"Okay," I said before she left my room. I wonder what she has to tell me that is so important.
Could it be about the conversation they were all having the other night? I was dying to know but decided on taking a nap first before heading downstairs. Whatever my family wanted to tell me it could wait a couple more hours.
