Ingredients
Sugar (1/3 cup)
Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
Raisins (1/2 cup)
Sour cream (1/2 cup)
Egg (1 large)
All-purpose flour (2 cups)
Baking powder (1 teaspoon)
Baking soda (1/4 teaspoon)
Unsalted butter – frozen (8 tablespoons)
Preparation
First, you would need to adjust the oven rack to the lower middle position. Then, preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Take a medium sized bowl and add baking powder, flour, 1/3-cup sugar and baking soda. Sprinkle some amount of salt as well. Meanwhile, grate the butter into the flour mixture and add the raisins.
Mix the sour cream with egg in a small bowl. Blend it well till it smoothens. With the help of a fork, stir the sour cream mixture into the flour mixture. Then, press this dough together till it forms a ball.
Now, place this on a lightly floured surface. Press this ball of dough into an 8-inch circle. Use the remainder portion of the sugar as a sprinkling over this dough. Cut it into 8 triangles and place it on a cookie sheet. Keep a gap of an inch between each triangle. Bake this preparation till it turns golden brown for a period of 15 minutes. Once it cools down, you can serve immediately.

Whole wheat flour (3/4 cup)
Baking powder (1 tablespoon)
Maple syrup (3 tablespoons)
Pear (1)
Currants/raisins (1/3 cup)
Liquid egg substitute (3 tablespoons)
Pears - finely chopped (3/4 cup)
Skim milk – (2 tablespoons)
All-purpose flour – unbleached (1 cup)
Preparation
Coat a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray and preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Then combine the flours along with the baking powder. Mix these ingredients to blend well. Then, stir in the syrup along with the currants, egg substitute and pear. Add some milk to have the right consistency for this dough. Then, make a ball out of this dough and place it on a lightly floured surface. Pat it gently so that it forms a 7-inch circle. Once done, place this dough on a baking sheet. Cut it into 12 triangle shaped pieces. Leave a gap of one inch between them. Brush the surface lightly with some skimmed milk. Bake this for about 20 minutes till it turns a shade of golden brown. Serve hot!

Water (1 tablespoon)
Milk (1/4 cup)
Grape-nuts (1 cup)
Raisins (1/2 cup)
Slightly beaten (2 Eggs)
Baking powder (2 1/2 teaspoons)
Instant coffee powder (1 tablespoon)
All-purpose flour (1 3/4 cups)
For the sugar glaze:
Water (1 tablespoon)
Powdered sugar (1/4 cup)
Instant coffee powder (1/8 teaspoon)
Preparation
First, you would need to grease some baking sheets and preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Meanwhile, mix the flour with the baking powder. Add some sugar and sprinkle with salt. With the help of a pastry blender, cut in butter till the mixture resemble coarse crumbs. Then, dissolve instant coffee in water and blend together eggs and milk. Stir this into the flour mixture and ensure you blend it well. Now, add cereal and raisins to this mixture and meanwhile, place the dough on a floured surface. Shape it into a rectangle of 12 X 4 inches. Place this on baking sheets and bake it for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile to prepare glaze, dissolve 1/8 teaspoon of instant coffee powder in water and add to the powdered sugar. Blend this mixture well. Use this glaze to brush over the warm scones for added flavor.
