Types of Mouse Traps

Spring Loaded Bar Mouse Trap
This trap, as the name suggests, has a bar that is loaded with a spring. Onto a wooden surface, a trap is fitted, which has a spring device on it. It has a trip so that the spring can be released. When something (the mouse), touches this trip, the spring-loaded handle or bar will come down rapidly with such force that it will kill the mouse that is trapped in the trap. A bait is placed onto the trip to attract the mouse. Once the mouse is killed, you can easily get rid of it.

Glue Traps
These homemade traps are those wherein plastic or cardboard surfaces are used. These surfaces are then covered by glue that is made from synthetic or natural adhesive. A bait is placed onto the surface, and this is what attracts the mouse to the trap. Once the mouse comes on to the trap, it gets stuck on it and you can either kill or release the mouse. This trap only works indoors, because outdoors the glue can be easily dried due to moisture, dust and other factors.

Poison Mousetrap
This is one of the favorite methods to trap a mouse. In this, a food item (a slice of tomato is the best choice) is laced with rat poison that is readily available in the market, and left at strategic places that are favorites of the mouse. The mouse will eat the food and the poison will kill it.

Electric Mousetrap
In this, the mouse trap is designed such that there are two electrodes that are located either in the center of the trap or at the entrance. These are placed inside a plastic or insulated box. When the mouse enters the electric trap due to the smell of the bait, he completes the circuit of the box by contacting the two electrodes.

Lethal Gas
Other mouse traps include using a poisonous gas to eliminate the mouse. In this, the trap will have a bait at the center and a spring that will trap the mouse onto the box and trigger off the gas at the same time. Once the mouse smells the bait and enters the trap, he will trigger these two things. The door will close and the poisonous gas (usually CO2) will be released, killing the mouse.

Mouse Trap Bait

The kind of bait you use in your mouse trap is very important. There is no point in setting up the mouse trap and then failing to catch the mouse because of the wrong choice of bait used. That is why the best bait for mouse trap is the kind that is sticky and not easily accessible. It is agreed that if one puts a hard lump of cheese onto the bait, the mouse can easily pick up the cheese even before the trap has time to catch the mouse. On the other hand, if the bait is sticky, the mouse will be stalled there, allowing the trap to work with success. Use things like Brie cheese or peanut butter. These are sticky and have a very strong smell, both of which are ideal to attract the mouse and keep him there.

Don't wait for the destruction to reach new heights - bring the situation under control and get rid of that mouse by using one of the mouse traps mentioned above.
