Brokeback Mountain (2005)

This is a romantic drama film, about the love between a ranch hand, Ennis (Ledger) and a rodeo cowboy, Jack (Gyllenhaal) on the Brokeback Mountains. The film is based in the year 1963 and it stretches for over the next 20 years, which deals with all the hardships that they had to face for being homosexuals, the tears they had to shed and also the love that they shared. No wonder this movie got the most nominations in the 78th Academy Awards, and also won 3 awards for the Best Adapted Screenplay, the Best Director and the Best Original Score. It's a must watch movie, for all, especially for all those Heath Ledger fans.

Slumdog Millionaire (2008)

Cast: Dev Patel, Frieda Pinto, Anil Kapoor, and Madhur Mittal.

Another good movie to watch is 'The Slumdog Millionaire'. This is a story about how a street child (Jamal) from the city of Mumbai, India, grew up to sit on the hot chair of 'Who wants to be a Millionaire' and won. He is not educated but he is able to answer the questions from all the lessons that life has taught him since childhood. He had seen his mother being killed in front of his eyes by some rebellious groups, he and his brother have seen how young boys and girls of their age were tortured to become beggars and several other hardships. Laugh with him, when he jumps into a pit of human feces so that he can get the autograph of the great Bollywood star, Amitabh Bachchan, cry with him, when he fails to get his childhood love, Latika, and rejoice with him when he wins the money and is reunited with her. This movie won 10 Academy Awards in 2009. Jai Ho!

Avatar (2009)
Director: James Cameron
Cast: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Signourney Weaver, and Joel David Moore.

This is an epic science fiction movie and one of the most expensive movies (USD 237 million) ever made. The story is based in 2154 A.D. and it's about how humans are trying to interact with the local tribe of Pandora, called the Na'vi. The humans are actually mining for a precious mineral which is called the unobtanium and they want to expand their mining field and for that they want the Na'vi people to evacuate their land. Watch the movie and see who wins. Do they agree to the human demands or do the humans fail? This is a really good movie. And while watching this movie, do not forget your 3-D glasses.

Fight Club (1999)
Director: David Fincher
Cast: Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and Helen Bonham Carter.

This is another must watch movie from the great movies list. This is a story about a man (Norton) who is sick of his life and who wants something exciting and different. He meets a soap salesman, Tyler (Pitt) and starts a Fight Club. Under his leadership, they start Project Mayhem. It's the end part of the movie when all the mysteries are slowly opening up that surprises the viewers. It's a must watch for all those who are into more of action movies.
