There have been several gadgets that have been introduced in the market this year. Some which hardly matched the hype that they generated and some that were truly groundbreaking. With the year almost coming to an end, we take a look at the best gadgets.
The world of technology is a fascinating one. You look away for a minute and the moment you turn around, you will be bombarded by several gadgets with cutting edge technology each trying to displace the other. The advances in technology are so fast that we constantly get news about electronic gizmos with their advanced versions proliferating the market. Every year electronic giants flood the markets with products that are sure to be on the wish list of every tech geek. 2011 was no different with a whole gamut of products being launched, some of which were definitely more desirable than others.

Before we heralded the year in, there were talks of some great gizmos that were all set to enter the field and as the year comes to a close, we talk about all those that definitely left an imprint on the average customer.

Apple iPhone 4S
While everyone expected the version of the iPhone to launch this year to be completely different from the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S retained the exterior design of the earlier version. There were several changes to the hardware and software specifications of the same though. The most talked about features of the phone were the personal computer independence, iCloud (cloud storage and cloud computing service), the better camera, and of course, the talking assistant and voice recognition software, Siri.

Apple iPad 2
An Apple product always causes mass frenzy and when the second generation iPad was launched in March, the situation was no different. The iPad 2 is a brilliant tablet that has some astounding features. It operates on the iOS 5 and has a dual core A5 processor. The iPad 2 is considerably lighter and thinner as compared to the original version of the tablet. It has both front facing and rear facing cameras . The device received pretty good reviews when it was launched and has become quite the desirable item for many people.

Casio Tryx
Launched in April, the Casio Tryx is a welcome departure from the rectangular cameras that we have all gotten so used to. By any standard, it is a looker with the ability to swivel and flip into practically any position and a tiny frame which is just half an inch thin. Add to that great features like a 12.1 megapixel resolution with CMOS sensor, 21 mm lens with wide-angle capabilities, HD video recording ability, and a video capture rate of 1080p at 30 frames per second, and it becomes a camera that everyone would love to own.

Nike+ SportWatch GPS
For those tech freaks out there who are also athletic, this watch with its uncomplicated design would be the perfect gadget to own. Created out of a collaboration between Nike, the sports giant, and TomTom, the navigation company, this watch is perfect for keeping track of your location, the time, the distance you run, the pace at which you ran, and the calories burnt. It works with the sensors in the shoes, and also allows you to download information to your computer. Add to it great battery, a brilliant interface, and protection from water for a depth of at least 50 meters.

3DS by Nintendo
This is the gadget to possess for most gaming enthusiasts. Nintendo managed another win with this portable game console which they first launched in Japan in February. What is the most brilliant feature of the gaming console? Well it allows you to experience 3D without having to wear compatible 3D glasses or any other accessory. It has a front-facing sensor and two-rear facing sensors which have a resolution of 0.3 MP. It is also suited with a D-pad, touchscreen, accelerometer, gyroscope, volume slider, 3D depth slider, and wireless communications switch.

These are just some of the many great gadgets that were launched in this past year. This list is a subjective preference, but market trends also indicate that these were some of the most sought-after devices.
