Best Colors for Bedrooms
Want to make your bedroom feel and look comfortable? Paint it in some soothing, relaxing and cheery colors! Read on to know the best colors for bedrooms...

As I mentioned earlier, when choosing wall colors for your bedroom, go in for those which add tranquility to the environment. Our bedrooms are the place where we unwind, where we watch TV or read a book or talk to our loved ones. Bedrooms are very private and personal place and so should be painted in colors that are so 'us'. That's why, besides the effect of the color on the environment, your choice is equally important. Although, home interior magazines do come up with latest bedroom color trends that are in vogue in a particular season, yet it's my personal suggestion that go with those that seem pleasing to your eyes.
Neutral Colors
Brown, beige, and gray lend comfort and stability to the room surroundings. This makes them one of the best choices for master bedrooms. However, neutral shades may sometimes seem very bare and boring. So, if you are opting for them, add a lot of colorful accessories, furniture pieces and fabric to the room in bright colors like purple, dark green, red and orange. With a neutral background, the beauty of colorful and bright rugs, candles, tables, wall hangings, etc is sure to stand out!
Olive Green
Light greens have always been favorites for bedrooms. However, if you want some unique color for your bedroom, go in for a faded green such as olive green. With olive green on your room walls, you will feel as if nature has entered right into your room! Moreover, like all greens, this color too has a very calming effect on the mind and body. This makes it a perfect color for your bedroom. To add a bit of drama to your room, consider painting three walls in olive green and keep the fourth one as an "accent wall" by painting it in chocolate brown. The contrast looks amazing and very close to the look of a green forest!
Yellow
Although yellow is considered too flashy to be on the walls of a bedroom, yet, if toned down with light colored accessories and fabrics in the room as well as a pure white ceiling, it can make a bedroom look very cheerful, sunny and happy! An interesting idea is to paint the wall background white and have stripes or polka dots in yellow in the bedroom. Yellow being a fun color, is one of the best choices for kids' bedrooms.
Blue
Blue, the color of ocean, lends an unparalleled serenity to a room. It makes the bedroom look very relaxing for people who live in it. It is extremely soothing for the eyes and thus is ideal for a place where people take refuge after a grilling day. To add vibrancy and beauty to your bedroom walls, paint three walls in light blue and the fourth one white. On this white wall, get murals painted in different shades of blue like aquamarine and turquoise. It will create a very beautiful effect on your whole bedroom. As for the accessories, fabric and furniture pieces, preferably keep them in white and shades of blue too.
Paint colors for bedrooms should be chosen with a lot of care. If you have zeroed in on three-four colors, to make sure that you do not go wrong, paint some portion of the wall with these colors. See them how they look at various points during the day, both in natural light and room light. This patch test will help you select the best and most suited paint color for your bedroom.
