The warm up should be such that you sweat a little bit. You need a sturdy bar to perform press up. Press ups help to build shoulder and chest muscles.

Pec Dec
This is one of the best chest workout exercises, as it focuses on all the major muscles of the chest. To perform these exercises, you need a pec dec machine. Hold the bars of the pec dec machine with your hands, and keep the arms at shoulder level. Then push the two bars towards each other, and return slowly to the starting position. Perform 20 reps of 2 sets.

Bench Press
To perform these chest exercises lie down flat on the bench, and hold dumbbells in both your hands, directly above your chest, and with elbow slightly bent and palms facing towards one another. Then slowly lower the dumbbells near the chest, then again push the dumbbells up. This is one repetition, perform 20 repetitions and two sets of bench press for obtaining ripping chest muscles.

Wall Raises
These are good low impact and one of the best chest exercises at home which older people can also use. To perform these workouts stand straight from a wall, at an arms distance. Then place your palms on the wall, shoulder width apart, and keep your legs straight except the ankles. Then lower your upper body towards the wall, and then push off. Repeat 20 times again, and perform one more set.

Both women and men can follow the above exercises. For men, to build more strength and bulk in their chest area can start with light weights and progress to heavier weights and more sets. Women should stick to lighter weights, to tone up the chest area.
