Being Fully Productive With the Time You’ve Got
Are you someone who continually works to improve yourself? If you are, great; if you are not, here are some great ideas from a Master Coach to prompt you into doing just that.
There are a lot of reasons for us to focus our attention on constant and continuous development in our personal and professional worlds. Some of the reasons might be to earn the next raise; to feel more comfortable learning a skill that you’re weak in; to keep up with modern technology. But have you ever considered that it will in fact increase your productivity and time management skills?
In his Great Little Book on Mastering Your Time, Brian Tracy states that, "Personal development is a major time-saver. The better you become, the less time it takes you to achieve your goals."
How true, how true! Think of your first day in your current job or in your new enterprise. How long did it take you to get routine things accomplished! There were forms to create, contacts to establish, systems to discover and confidence to be gained!
Once you have mastered all of the above, i.e., mastered your time, did you stop there? Many people do! Sadly, when we reach a comfort zone where things are going smoothly and we know both the ins and outs of our profession and also where we fit in with respect to all of the players, we begin to coast!
Is this what you want - to coast? This is the kiss of death in any kind of business or relationship, excluding everything about what your particulars are. We get stale! We stop going that extra mile and worst of all, we stop having fun!
It becomes too easy to loose the edge that got us where we are in the first place, and once we’ve lost it, it becomes way too difficult to pull ourselves back into
the game! What happens to time management then?
This week, look for ways to spice up your personal and professional development strategy. If you do not have a personal or professional development strategy, create one. If you have one in place, give it a fresh look and see if you can tweak it to become better. Be creative, bold and daring! Look beyond what classes you will take or which books you will read and peer into the unknown, whatever the unknown is for you! How will expanding your mind or enhance your thinking through a development strategy affect your time management skills? Only you know the answer to this question. See what there is to discover this week and have fun discovering it! Enjoy your week!!
