Being Beautiful - Chapter Two

Briana is a 16-year-old girl who hosts a web show. She doesn't know her life without it and she just gives great advice on how to love yourself and no one else.
Chapter Two - Knowing Ian and I

I stayed after school with my brother, Ian and of course I didn't have a choice to stay with Lucas. I was on the bleachers typing an essay and they were both outside doing their little football routine things. I saw on the other side of the track, the cheerleaders were doing their cheer drills, and one of those preps were my sister. Her and my brother were always into that athletic chiz, I never was.

I still have the feeling that I'm adopted. I mean I like to go out and do things, but I don't like to do the things that my brother and sister do. Like my sister loves to party, and I do too, but my sister goes above and beyond. She also likes to drink and I refrain from that. And her top priority is boys. She loves em. I mean, don't get me wrong, I am not into the whole lesbian thing, but boys were never like my top priority y'know? I always thought grades first. Even after that, all the boys that go to my school are like not my cup of tea. The cute ones are either seeing someone or are like big douche, so I just keep my limits intact.

I looked back out at the field and they were doing these weird push up things, where one person did push ups up, while their partner ran around the track and then once that partner came back, they switched. I thought it was kind of funny to watch.

I looked back on my computer screen, and I noticed that I was almost done with my essay on the heartbreaking moments of Julius Caesar. Quite frankly, I was in love with Cassius' character. He might have been the conspirator, but he knew what he wanted and that was Caesar getting killed and that's what he got. He even committed murder at the end, which adds this brilliant twist in the story. Well, I guess that's my opinion.

As I finished my essay and saved it, Ian had made his way over to me. He had cleaned all the sweat off his face, and he was staring at me gladly like a new man. I smiled. "You all looked like animals out there." I shut my laptop and then placed it in my bag.

"I'm just glad you stayed. The late practice wasn't in my schedule either." I laughed as he grabbed my bag, and threw it over his shoulder and guided me down the bleachers.

Before I even got all the way down, my brother and Lucas were standing down there waiting for me. "Ready to go home kid?" Liam asked. He took one glance at Ian and frowned.

"Sorry."

He wafted his hand and then walked off. Lucas just smiled and blew me a kiss. "See you at home princess." I just frowned as he walked off.

I jumped off the last step and then stepped beside Ian. "I have a feeling that your brother doesn't like me," he said crossing his arms.

I looked at him and raised an eyebrow. "Oh gee," I said placing both of my hands on my face in awe. "I never knew."

He just rolled his eyes and we walked to his car smiling.

Once we got to my house, we walked inside the house and my mom was sitting on the couch talking to my brother and Lucas, about something that probably didn't interest me. Once the door opened, my mother smiled.

"Hi honey and Ian."

"Hey mom." I walked over to her and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

"Hi Mrs. McArthur."

My mother turned back to my brother and Lucas, frowned and began to speak again. "And like I said, I don't want any parties going on at my home this weekend and if I find out anything, I will kick both of your asses." I heard Ian chuckle and my brother gave him a stern look. "Do you understand me?"

"Yes mom." "Yes, Mrs. McArthur."

"Thank you boys." She pushed herself off the couch, and then walked past me and out of the kitchen. My brother and Lucas stood up and stretched.

"What was that all about?" I asked taking my jacket off and putting it on the coat rack by the door.

"Mom and dad are going to go visit Aunt Rebecca in Texas and she was just scolding us about all the parties, and stuff cause you know how cool I am." I rolled my eyes as he walked toward me with Lucas. "We're going out. Need anything?"

"No thanks. I'm fine. Unless you wanna get me some tampons, then I'm completely okay with that." Liam laughed, but Lucas' face went completely white which made me laugh. "I'm joking. Damn Lucas." His face turned back to its beige as he looked at me.

"You're so cute when you wanna be." And then he moved a lock of my hair from my face. I felt something tense up, so I looked to the side of me and saw Ian's jaw clench.

Apparently Lucas saw it also, so he smiled and said, "We'll be going now." And they both pushed past us and walked out the door. I looked back at them and then locked the door. I looked to my left for Ian, but he was making his way upstairs, so I followed.

Once upstairs, he stripped from his shoes and crashed on my bed. I turned on my lamp and then opened the window.

"Reach in my bag and take out my laptop and open my email," I said taking some clothes out of my drawer and then walking into my bathroom. "There's this awesome email that had me smiling all day."

I changed my clothes into something comfortable, combed my hair down some and then put my clothes in the hamper and then walked back out. I looked up at Ian and I saw him smiling.

He looked up at me and smiled. "This is legit. Where is Delilah from?"

"I don't know, she didn't say, but I kind of, want to meet her. I have a feeling she is like my biggest fan." I sat beside Ian and he went to my blog website. I cringed at the first post about the blog that I did last night.

Briana just went up and left us like that? What the hell was the deal with that 2 minute show last night? Is she in like depression or something? I hope all her fans are feeling like she left us cause she did. BRIANA YOU SUCK FOR THAT.

I felt my heart drop as people commented on the post he made. There were some saying for him to take that back, and others agreeing with what he said and it hurt. Ian saw this and scrolled down. The other comments were asking if I were okay and some were telling me to don't listen to that kid.

I jacked the computer back and commented on his comment.

Sorry Lids if I hurt your feelings. Yesterday just wasn't my cup of tea.

And I posted it.

Ian jacked the computer back. "Kid don't listen to him. He's just one person. He will not ruin your blog, I assure you."

"Look at all those people agreeing with him."

"Don't be that way. You're way better than that." He shut the laptop and looked at me. "What do you have planned to do tonight?"

"I'm not sure. Did you have anything planned?"

He nodded. "We could talk about our friendship." I raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, I knew you wouldn't get it, but hear me out. There are people on here that think we're in love, cause they don't think that a straight guy or a straight girl can be friends without having to be together, and we can tell them what made us this way. It gives people hope. Hell, it'll give me hope."

I smiled. "Alright then, but first lemme write Dell back." I grabbed my laptop from him and then opened my email backup and typed:

Thanks so much. I have actually been going through a really hard time, and to hear you say how much my blog means to you makes me smile ear to ear. Tell your friend I said thanks also, and I know what you mean. Tell your principal to keep rocking on. I love your school and Ian and I might even come and visit one day. He keeps shaking his head no, but he'll cave sooner or later. That's what best friends are for, if you didn't know. Haha. Well thanks Dell and I wish I knew more about you. Don't be a stranger.

Yours Forever Briana!

That afternoon, Ian and I spent the whole day together, when my mom went to a PTA meeting and my dad went to go play golf at night with some of his buddies. My sister had left with her boyfriend, and my brother hadn't been back since he left earlier.

"I might as well stay the night," Ian said as he put an arm behind his head and turned the channels. I looked over at him.

"Well. I'm fine with that, but Lucas is taking the guest room in for one more night, until his parents get back."

"Then I'll just sleep in here with you."

"And how do you think my dad will feel about that?"

He smiled. "Touche spider monkey." He rolled over and looked at me. "This girl asked me out for Friday night."

My heart froze. I didn't even look at him, but he could tell how mad I was. Of course Ian had dated girls and of course I was okay with it, but I was a tiny bit jealous, that he would be spending all his time on some other girl, if it wasn't me. I know that sounds a bit selfish, but I guess that's just how I feel.

"And what did you say?" I asked looking down and playing with my fingernails.

"I said no cause I have a big game on Friday night. You know that." My heart fell back down.

"Oh yeah." I shook my head and placed a hand on it. "I should know that, my brother is flying in just to see it."

"No way," Ian said smiling.

I nodded. "Yes sir. He wants me to use his car to drive him on Friday." I looked at him. "Want to go on a date with me on Friday at 6 to go and get him?"

"Of course. If there is anyone that I would always say yes to, it would be with you." I smiled.

"What time is it?" I asked picking up my phone to look at the time.

"Almost 10:00," Ian said getting to his phone before I did.

"Should we start now?" He nodded and sat up.

Ian grabbed my laptop and opened it and then flicked the screen up. He signed onto the blog, looked at the comments and then opened the camera. He cleared his throat and then spoke.

"Hello fellow tuner-inners." I eyed him and he smiled. "Hey you cute people." I rolled my eyes and he continued. "It is I, young Ian and this is y'know, my best friend Briana. The main producer of this show. As you all know, we are the best of friends and no we have never been in love, unless you count in love as like friends."

"You're jumping all over the place," I said looking at him. He shrugged.

"I'm getting to the point, give me a minute."

"No." I looked at the camera. "Ian and I have been friends since theee..." I started counting on my fingers, to give the scene a little bit more sarcasm.

"5th grade."

"Oh yes. 5th grade. So, now I know what you're thinking, "How y'all friends and he straight and you straight and y'all ain't never slept together or kissed each other or something?' Well, you see." I bit my fingernails and looked at Ian for support. He was too busy laughing at my impression of a person. "Anyway, it's because we have too much of a connection. It's like when your connection is so close to, where you can like poop in the bathroom and he's like there. Like it's weird, but he's seen me at weird points. There was the time I threw up in his bed and he just washed the covers and patted my back..."

"The time where I spilled hot ass coffee all on her shirt, she just bought... Well she punched me in the chest and then she forgave me."

"The day that we went skinny dipping in his neighbor's pool and they called the cops on us."

"$200 ticket for vandalism and grounded for a month," he said smiling.

I rolled my eyes. "All we're saying is that if you know a person so well and you can do practically anything around them, then you two were meant to be friends and not like loving each other. I think that's how you say it."

"She means, then you don't belong in a relationship with that person." He placed his arm around my shoulder. "How cute is she?" He kissed the side of my head.
